We changed the fuser unit out on this printer a few weeks ago. Now it has a "OPEN HEAT ERROR" on screen, that changes back and forth to "PC Print Pending" message. I have cycled the power and the error comes up right away. I have not looked at the fuser unit yet. I amgoing to take a look at the lamp and look for any fuses or even a thermal switch. Any other input would be appreciated. Thanks.

The thermal switch on the fuser are damaged. my problem is that I don't know the temperature of activation to this. And do not buy a replacement under this conditions. somebody help me.
I was gettng dirty copies and a Dell Rep suggested I needed to replace fuser. Ordered a new one, installed it with Dell's help and the "open heat error" started up. We then put the old fuser back in and the same problem continued...."open heat error". I'm wondering if something else may be in play...I've unplugged, replaced and started over but none of it helps. Perhaps there is something that needs to be reset, etc when installing this part. I did not have this error until I installed the new fuser.
From the user manual:

The following errors indicate there is a problem in the fuser unit.
CRU Fuse Error
[Low Heat Error]
Heating Error

However, I can help you troubleshoot the "Low Heat Error" problem with your printer.A "Low Heat Error" typically occurs when the fuser unit in the printer is not reaching the correct operating temperature. The fuser unit is responsible for fixing the toner onto the paper using heat.
Here are some steps you can try to resolve the "Low Heat Error" issue:
Power Cycle: Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, and wait for about 10-15 minutes. Then, plug it back in and turn it on again. This can sometimes reset the fuser unit and clear the error.
Check Power Source: Ensure that the printer is connected to a stable power source. Fluctuations in power supply can affect the fuser's heating element.
Printer Environment: Make sure the printer is placed in a suitable environment with adequate ventilation. Overheating of the printer due to poor airflow can trigger a low heat error.
Allow Warm-Up Time: After turning on the printer, give it some time to warm up fully. The fuser unit needs a few minutes to reach its optimal operating temperature.
Inspect Fuser Unit: Check the fuser unit for any visible signs of damage or malfunctions. If you notice any issues with the fuser, it may need to be replaced.
Update Firmware (Optional): Check if there are any firmware updates available for your printer model. Updating the firmware can sometimes resolve known issues.
If you can open the printer and detach paper assembly a while then put it back firmly, then also the fuser assembly..see to it that no other particles or foreign materials inside the printer and all were aligned.
Error 928 refers to the fuser motor failing.
Problem could be with fuser motor, motor drive board or engine board.
One other possible cause would be if you are sending too thick a card stock through
the machine, this can cause drag on the fuser which the machine interprets as
a motor failure.
Hope this helps.
Just call Dell Tech support. It's in their policies that if you call them and complain about a heat issue, they'll replace the unit for safety reasons.
Fuser error is the high voltage drum. Normally there is a blown fuse somewhere attached to it that gives the error other you could have a defective fuser unit. Dont attemt yourself it works with very high voltages +- 600V
