I can't download my videos from my JVC GZ-HD7U into my PC using Magix Edit Pro.

It seems like the computer does not read the video despite of downloading the disk that came with the video camera. I tried doing it into my MAC but it downloads videos that I did not select. There is nothing on the screen to show my choices before the videos start to download. It seem to have a mind of its own. What can I do? Please help.

When I connect my GZ-HD7U to the computer (Mac) the still shots automatically load into iPhoto perfectly, however, the camera ceases to function as soon as I try to download movies. The disc that came with the camera seems not to download onto the computer properly.

Hi there,
It happens because you didn't install the quicktime plugin. once the quicktime is installed it will show the preview of the video so you can make your selection.
download the quicktime plugin: http://www2.cli.co.jp/products/ne/update_qtc_for_gzhd7/qtc3e_update.htm

if not download the VLC player. it will nearly play every format. Choose your .tod file and play it on vlc. http://www.videolan.org/vlc/

hope its helps :) by the way i got the same camera :P

If you're editing this on the mac, the reason the files are not working is because you need to download the MPEG Codec. I have the same camcorder and all issues went away once I had the codec. I Also use MPEGSTREAM CLIP to convert the videos to a file format that Final Cut Pro and iMovie both understand natively.
Shoot me an email to [email protected] and i can direct you to a location to get the mpeg codec.

Dear Crym...,

The CD in box, "Cyberlink PowerCinema NE for Everio" is one of the best programmes for Video Editing, Movie Making and DvD/BD Burning. I am using this package since a year now, previously with my Everio MG330, later with the HD7. I have made almost 300 DvDs till date, all quality/personalised movies and it works par excellence.

But I do so on a "PC" (Centrino2-Core2duo). Which unfortunately, is the perfect platform to do so, rather than the "Mac". However, Mac is also supposed to do so fairly well. I suggest, uninstall the software from your Mac and reinstall it again. And hopefully, things will go well thereafter.

Regards,

I bought the program Magix Movie Edit 12 . I just changed to a computer with windows 7. How can I download and run Magix. When I tried it told me to change windows! Thank you

Glad to HELP YOU!

This Magix Movie Edit series were made to run on Windows 7 systems too. So probably your license key was released for your previous computer ONLY. On the list of compatible MAGIX products (for Windows 7) are mentioned just:
  • Movies on DVD 8
  • Movie Edit Pro 16 / 17
  • Movie Edit Pro 16 / 17 Plus
  • Rescue Your Videotapes! 3
  • Video easy HD
  • Video Sound Cleaning Lab
So your MAGIX Movie Edit 12 is not included.
Anyway the same manufacturer says that:
"If you have difficulties with the installation of our products or you have trouble with the system environment email us here: http://support.magix.net/".
... I'd suggest you to do so.

GOOD LUCK!

Magix Edit Pro 14 can't see my video camera so I can't import videos. It's hooked up via USB cable. Any ideas for me?

Open the video camera in 'My Computer' to open it like a USB Memory Stick. Then copy the video files onto your hard drive in a folder of your choice, this way you can import into Magix Edit Pro from the Hard Drive if it cannot see the camera.

No disc for my JVC Everio GZ-HD7U

You don't need the disc. Buy Corel's latest videostudio x2 for editing. To extract the video files from camera just plug into computer with USB cable and search the camera for files.

JVC CAMCORDER GZ-HD7U

You CAN NOT use the Firewire to capture your footage like DV or HDV camcorders. I too Have a macbook pro and use FCPS2 to edit my footage. If you want to get the footage off of the HD7u, you'll have to connect via USB2.0 and download the .TOD files and use a program to convert them. I use MPEGStreamclip. It will work with the .TOD files and convert them to a format that iMovie or FInal Cut will understand. If this is not for professional work you'll probably be fine converting the footage to the HDV standard or DV standard and not have to render in FCP to edit the footage.
Caution... MPEG2 codec may be needed. If you have FCP or have Quicktime pro, you probably already have it other wise you can purchase it from apple for $29.99 or if you try real hard (not to hard) you can probably find it on a torrent for free.
I hope this helps your situation

UpDated Firmware for the JVC GZ-HD7U.

There currently are no updates for the camcorder, they discontinued the camcorder shortly after it hit stores.. seemed to have alot of issues.
To the other user with the similar issues. The camcorder isn't the same as a DV camcorder and you may not be able to capture live. My suggestion would be to mount the camera using the USB cable and copying the video files from the camcorders internal hard drive to your desired location.
You may need an application to convert the videos, I suggest MpegStream Clip. They have a version for PC and Mac.
