My printer was faintly printing color but no black so I changed both cartridges. It then printed black and the wrong colors. I called 877 support number and the "tehnician" was very rude. He told me it needed to be looked at by a local technician. He knows because he's the one with the experience and there is nothing else he can do. He did say (befre I hung up on him for being sarcastic and condescending when I needed help which is his job) it could be my print head. How can I clean it myself? I need my printer today if possible!

HP, in order to sell more ink, monitors the expiration date of the cartridges installed. Solution is either to buy a new unexpired cartridge from HP or to disable the date monitoring built in to the printer. This latter is done by removing the button cell located inside the D135 printer on the left hand side or by simply slipping a thin piece of plastic between button cell and metal contact. You will no longer have date function on printer, but it won't object to expired cartridges either.

Here was the solution. You MUST use HP brand black cartridge. Originally I purchased a #94 Office Max brand black cartridge. After it did not work I took it back and they gave me a second Office Max brand and that did not work either. So I took it back and they sold me an HP brand (I only needed to pay the difference in price so Office Max was good to work with). I installed the HP #94 black cartridge and everything now works.
SOURCE: hp color laserjet 2600 n it will not let me print
hp 2600n printer has no overriding settings for bypassing empty color cartridges.if you try it by swapping chips like we do on other models the colour printing will permanantly disable and will never print colour even after you replace colour cartridges.thats the way hp has set up 2600 laserjet.dont even try any bypassing method or you will spoil whole printer.many people fail the printer by just trying to bypass it someway.
thanks.

To solve the
printing problem..
# Hold the cartridge upside down, with the
bar-code label facing you and take a damp paper towel.
# Use the towel to wipe the printhead of the
cartridge on the bottom (where the ink comes out). Wipe the printhead
horizontally in one direction only (left to right).
# Continue doing this until it looks clean.
# Then dab the cartridge on the towel to make sure
the ink is flowing.
# Next, look inside the printer and locate the
carrier that holds ink cartridges. Caution: Make sure the cartridges are not
installed at this point.
1. Look for a shiny piece of metal underneath the
contacts at the back of the carrier.
2. Take a damp cotton swab (use water only!) and
wipe along the bottom of the shiny metal piece. Note: You may need more than
one swab.
# Reinstall the cartridges, making sure you snap
them correctly into the printer.
Hope this help. Please

remove the cartridge from the printer . in the bottom of the cartridge you can see the ink nozzles.shake the cartridge well & you can see the ink is coming out from the nozzles.clean it with tissue paper and put it back. or dip the cartrige in the warm water (be careful not dip the enter cartrige. only the bottom nozzles part )for one minute and shake the cartrige well.clean the nozzle with tissue and put it back.
