My pot's aluminum the heating tube was blocked by mineral deposits from the tap/bottled water. Try brewing a couple of cups of WHITE vinegar (NOT red vinegar) thru the pot MULTIPLE TIMES. For a third time, run the vinegar thru the pot ONLY half-way and let the vinegar sit in the pot (in the heating tube} overnight. Finish 'brewing' the rest of that. Finally, run several cups of plain water thru to get rid of the vinegar smell.

mcdevito75 here, Make sure everything is set to make coffee, New or clean filter, filter basket set in machine. Your coffee maker might need cleaning also.------------ Fill resovoir with white vinegar, let it run thru the machine 3 times, half way thru ther 3rd time stop machine and let stand for 30 minutes. resume brewing, then fill resovoir with water and let run thru machine 2--3 times to get rid of vinegar. If this don"t help you may need new coffee maker.
Cleaning generally won't help a machine that does not work. Heating element has probably burned out. (I am not talking about the heating pad for the carafe!)
For future reference for all the coffee drinkers out there: Simple quick way to clean a drip coffee maker is use Vinegar. Let it brew through the system as you would water. Discard and run fresh water through the system to clear out the vinegar residue left behind. (Make SURE the system has cooled first before running the fresh water through!)
For those that have hard water and the coffee tastes funny. Try a small pinch of salt in the filter basket ON top of the coffee grounds. This will soften the water and hopefully take the bitter taste away.
Guess it is possible large enough calcium deposits could block the hole in the holding tank to prevent the water from percolating to the filter basket. You may wish to check this before tossing. Last minute thought before pushing the post button.
I HAD A COFFEE MAKER DO THIS AND I TRYED TO GET PARTS FROM THE MANUFACTURER AND THEY WANTED ME TO SEND IT BACK TO THE FOR REPAIRS THEY DON'T WANT THE LIABILITY OF SOME ONE GETTING HURT . BY THE TIME I SHIP THE THING AND PAY FOR PARTS AND LABOR I CAN BUY TWO NEW COFFEE MAKERS. YOU MAKE THE CALL
run 2 cups of vinegar through the coffee pot brew it do it twice. this will clean the calcium out. then rince out out and brew one batch of water to clean.
I despise the TFTX85!!! It will overflow, it will stop working! It will never tell you the correct time! It is evil in a coffeemaker.
