I have a presario V3500, i recently install vista there....and install all device drivers... even my device manager is not showing any missing driver...but still my sound driver is not working...what should i do...(and this laptop is not supported any other OS like XP or WIN 7). thanks,
Try to install Realtek, Adi Soundmax, Conexant and few other well known drivers for Vista. It is important to see first if your system is 32 or 64 bits, to match the driver version.
Have you checked to make sure the sound isn't muted?

You cannot install Windows XP over Vista.
What you need to do is erase the hard drive, using a hard drive utility program such as PowerMax to low-level format your drive. Then, you can make a fresh install of Windows XP.

If your using a DVD to install the operating system, it could be either dirty (just needs a wipe) or the files on the disk are corrupt.
If you are getting this error while Windows 7 is starting up perhaps you can try doing a "repair". Boot off the DVD do a repair (not from the recovery console) and see if this helps.
