Broken archos my daughter plugged a 9 volt charger in to my archos av 700 by mistake .it worked afterwards allthough the chargeing light never came on .i tried to turn it on this morning and its dead even if i plug the charer in it does not light up can anyone tell me where i can get it fixed i live in northampton thanks

    I tried a 9 volt adapter(by mistake,the adapter seemed so small,never considered it to more than 4.5volt) to charge the archos AV 700 100 gb.In the beginning it started charging.within 2mins the screen went dark and everything went off.After that I have never been able to bring the power back.I purchased a new battery but that didn't do any good.I tried usb connection and a car charger with no goodluck.

You will need to replace the mains board which Archos will do - it costs £75 or therabouts - contact Archos through their website - it is best to have registered the Archos first as you will need a return number for them to repair your Archos. maureen

Tablet wont charge?
Is the charge light coming on? I had the same thing with my daughter's netbook. Eventually, it wouldn't charge at all and had to be run attached to the charger all the time. I ended up replacing the battery and it works fine now.

CProblems onnecting Archos 700 after connecting 605 to PC
It is very possible the drivers conflict. You should try uninstalling everything to do with the one you don't want. Then install the drivers/software for the 700. Also what software are you using and what version?

Broken RoadMate 700
Here are a few tests you can do. Bear in mind if the unit has not been charged for some time and the internal battery is completely flat, you will need to leave the unit on charge for some time even to get a charge light from the LED. Leave it on charge for at least 2 hours. First, check the LED is lit when the cable is plugged in to the cigarette lighter socket and/or mains charger? If it is not, the fuse in the cigarette lighter adapter may be faulty or the charger may not be working. If the fthe LED is lit, then is power available at the end of the cable that connects to your unit? Use your DC voltmeter to check this. If no power is available here, then your cable/charger is faulty - obtain a new one. If there is power at the connector, then the unit may be faulty.

Wrong charger have i killed it or can it be fixed plz help
I ordered the only charger Archos have for my Archos 605. The website listed the charger on the page for accessories for 605 but when it came it said its for the Generation 4 series. I plugged it in and not a lot happens. The green light shows as if it is charging but it isn't. Grrrr

Display shows very very faint image. Can't turn device off.
Sounds as though your back light for the LCD may have gone. It is not a job the DIY repairer can easily complete therefor you should return it to Archos or a certified repair center for an estimate. If it is in warranty Archos MAY cover it, though if they deem it has been dropped will likely charge you.

My Unit Will Not Power Up
Not sure if this is a solution for you. I had a problem with the DC power input jack on the player going bad. The batteries would no longer charge. I bought an extra battery and a USB charger from ebay. Now I'm good for two battery cycles and it works again. Although it will never charge it's own batteries or work off of AC power it does still work.

Av 400 - will not turn on
Hi, my archos does the exact same thing, however, when I press on, it turns on, then I hear a "click" and it turns itself off. Only when I have the charger plug in does the archos logo continue to remain on the screen. Did you find out what our problem is?
