SOURCE: acer laptop restore factory settings?

If windows is running you can start it by going to Programs, Acer Empowering Technology and run the Acer eRecovery Management. Note that on the bottom of the eRecovery Management window are 3 choices, Backup, Burn Disk and Restore. Click on Restore. Here you have the choice of select Restore System to Factory Default.

If windows is not working but the system boots -
Reboot the system and when the Acer logo appears, hold down the ALT key and press F10. This starts the recovery process, just follow the instructions.

The best way is with the Operating system disc and do a fresh install, thus wiping all installed programs and data files.

SOURCE: toshiba satellite a205-S5847 cuts off while working

You could have an overheating problem, The CPU shuts down when it overheats and the laptop won't bootup until the CPU has cooled down.
The overheating problems are caused by a faulty fan or the heatsink/fan assembly is clogged with dust which prevents proper cooling.
Check the fan to see it it spins freely, if not (it has a bearing problem) then replace the fan. Also remove and vacuum the dust off the fan and heatsink.

My Toshiba Satellite A205 S5000 came with 2 Ram memory chips of 1GB each. The OS is Windows 7 with 32-bits. Can I upgrade the memory to 4 GB by inserting 2 memory chips of 2GB each?

Hi Lewis

yes you can

here is the link but is cheaper if you just write down the exact numbers from the website and buy in computer warehouse or shop.
http://www.crucial.com/uk/upgrade/Toshiba-memory/Satellite+A205+Series/Satellite+A205-S5000-upgrades.html

but don't forgot to clean your laptop airflow with air duster every month with this you prevent the dust clogging up.
blocked airflow lead to owerheating
and heat differential is not good especially on lead free compound because the composite of welding material contain
silver and aluminium these metals hate each other both has different friction and heat transfer.
lead is more efficient but by eu law is not permitted any more.
if you want to run fast tasks you should go for pc laptop has modified core voltage is slower than computer
and all the high spec numbers are to attract customers to spend money.

How 2 reboot my toshiba laptop A205-S5000

Reboot means to restart. If you mean this, then simply:
Start > Shut Down > Restart.

If you mean to re-image / restore to factory settings. You will need to restart with the system disc and follow instructions.

Hope to have pointed you in the right direction.

Dual Processors for Toshiba Satellite A205-S5000 533Mhz FSB

you got a cheap laptop. maybe from walmart or some other store that was selling it for about $400. It doesn't have a processor that you can switch out. I'm sure it's horribly slow for Visa, so my advise would be to sell it and get something with a dual core.
