It is the fuse, or the power transformer that in some cases has a built in thermal fuse in place of the regular fuse.

I moved it to the garage, placed it on top of refrigerator, reset time, stations. I didnt play a cd right away. When I did, one played fine and that was it. No is wasent dropped, but I wonder if putting on the metal refrigerator somehow misaligned the laser to read cd's. thanks for your interest, Rick
[I must add though, when I brought it back into the house, it picked up and played a cd. I then went to play one of the other 5 discs and the same problem occured.

SOURCE: Problem with JVC stereo shelf system

It could be many things but if you put the disc in and you can hear the noise it makes while its scanning the disc then its probably the laser is mis-aligned. If you cannot hear any noise at all and it comes up with error after a while then it could be the entire laser unit needs replacing. Good luck.

How to unjam stereo cd drawer

Here is a link to the instruction manual:
http://resources.jvc.com/Resources/00/00/90/LVT1540-001B.pdf

On page 42 of the manual is says to try this:
The disc tray does not open or close.
  • The AC power cord is not plugged in.
  • Child Lock is in use (see page 25).]
  • Program Play is in use. Exit from Program Play (see page 24).
Check out the manual and see if that leads you in the right direction. Best of luck!

JVC CA-D661T compact home stereo stopped playing burned CDs (it used to play these same CDs, now it doesn't recognize them). Everything else works, including playing of original CDs. Any ideas?

You can try cleaning the laser lens. You can do this using qtips and rubbing alcohol. Be sure you are very gentle though or you could risk scratching the lens which would completely ruin the laser assembly.

HI I have a JVC KD R606 car stereo and i am trying to use an apple shuffle. When i attach the USB device the Stereo says 'restricted' - is there anything i can do to play the shuffle?

The USB in is ment for ipods with the 30 pin connector. To play the shuffly you could use a normal stereo plug. The one with the same end on each side. Its plugged into the headphone jack on your shuffle.

Playing MP3 Via AUX comes out crackly

Try turning the volume lowwer on the mp3 player and higher on the head unit. The radio is trying to amplify an amplified sound which is why you are getting distortion.

My car stereo shuts off while driving and playing

if you have had the head unit for long, it might be over heating and going into safe mode so it doesn't get to hot. This happened to my amp and i never did anything until it stopped working all together. so my guess would be just to get another head unit or get some type of cooling system.
