My daughter's Rival SCE502 seems to have a warped glass lid...It does not lay flat and so the hot air just rushes out as she cooks with it...Food dries out quickly....Anything that she can do?
The heating element of my 5.5 Qt Crock Pot (Model 3755) burned out yesterday, so I now have a LID For SALE. This particular model was one of the better ones I have used over the last 30 years and it's a shame to lose it in a puff of smoke. I had the unit for five or six years and got my money's worth out of it. (That's good, because the Rival company's customer service and repair departments ****). If you are interested, contact me at [email protected].

I believe the design of the handle on the SCE502 is poor and will fail over time. The nut in ours fell out of the handle, and we were holding the black plastic handle while the glass lid was falling to the floor. Ours failed this weekend, and luckily, when the lid fell, it did not break. After looking over the lid and the black handle, I purchased a 1/4-28 screw and a 1/4-28 nut (original was corroded). I drilled a hole completely through the handle and now the black handle is securely attached to the glass lid with a stainless steel screw and nut..
I have another pot with a lid and the lid 'fits' my crockpot; my glass crock pot just broke and my heart broke along with it! The cooking pot's lid worked for the soup I made last week but you can't see into the pot; I like that about the crock pot. Try another lid, or you can try to buy a new/different one, like I'm trying to do! :)
Contact manufactuer for a replacement handle. You should find the toll free number (or) website in the users manual. If you no longer have the manual type in www."the manufactuer".com
Your crock pot may still be under warranty (or) they may even send you the handle free of charge, who knows
I am Jo Anne Gomez who posted original problem and thought the problem was resolved with husband putting on a knob he found at the hardware store. Just wanted to let you all know that the handle we thought would solve the problem DID NOT....after he replaced the knob and we did another roast in it the lid totally shattered after we'd cooked another roast (luckily the glass did not get into the food), however, this is just a BAD PROBLEM and these lids should ALL be recalled. I have seen, just recently, the exact same crock pot and lid being sold for much less. I think that these crock pots should not even be sold but taken off the market to prevent lawsuits or horrible problems. Just wanted to let you know our solution did not work and Rival was not helpful at all.
This site sells replacement rival lids. They have plastic and glass ones. I would suggest you measure you old one and order a new one in glass. The added weight of the glass should cure your problems. Thanks Kevin PS if this helped you pls leave feedback. Link is below just cut and past into your browser. http://www.marbeck.com/crock_parts_rival.html
I have had the same problem. Spoke to rival customer service and they no longer sell replacement lids for model number SCE502. I've read to take the screw from the knob to a hardware store and then find a knob which will fit it.
Someone else suggested that if the knob is mostly intact, ask hardware store for araldite glue
