No Signal This VCR is almost brand new and has worked fine for a few months. We can still play fine, but when we push the menu button the remote to try and set up a recording, the tv screen goes blank and it says "no signal".

Unplug the unit for 24 hours or more, you should be fine after that. No not just turn off, UNPLUG from the wall. Then reset the time and all the stuff should come bacK fine. If it does not then buy a new VCR because to fix this one would require a new microprocessor IC, and that would cost you double on what the VCR cost.

I bought a used Daewoo DVK47N VCR player which works fine but i can't get the menu to come up. It will record if I push the record button and it plays back just fine but I can't program it.

You say "used" it may be the person who sold it you gave you the wrong remote. I should look around on Google for the model number and the number on the remote, to see if the two match up. If you have the manual it will often list the remote number. If you don't, try the Daewoo website, sometimes they have free PDF's of manuals. You could also ask them if the remote matches your model.
Otherwise it could be a fault in the electronics section of the VCR.

Ambiuous Information out there

Hi,

I kind of think the people that wrote the manuals didn't bother hooking up a unit. Here is some help.

The converter box is nothing more then a tv tuner that picks up a digital signal and converts it into analog so your tv can view it.

The vcr, to record programs has to be set to channel 3 or 4 (whatever the converter box is broadcasting on) to record. The converter for the vcr will have to set to whatever channel you want to record from every time you use the vcr and left on as this is the only was the vcr can pick up a signal. Make sure the power saver on the converter box is set to off.

If your tv converter box has digital pass through, all you have to do is turn the tv converter box off and it your tv should pick up the singal from your vcr when you play tapes. You also use this method to access the menu on the vcr.

Television is not responding properly to the remote

You need a brand new one of THESE and they are priced from 10.95 to 39.95 or less than the bench time to "fix" the vcr button on your remote, and since remotes are always coming up missing, you will
have a spare for all functions except the vcr and a basis of comparison for future troubleshooting processes as other functions fail, if any such failure should occur.

TV & DVD HookUp (No Box) Can't get picture

As far as I know, my Go Video machine when there was no box involved...

The cable came from the wall to the IN of the Go Video box. Then another cable coming from the OUT of the video box and to the IN to the TV. TV should be on channel 3. As far as I can remember, I don't need to push the TV/VCR button, but instead, have to channel down to below channel 2 on the TV to the LINE/INPUT selection. Once you go there, and the Go-Video machine is on, you should be able to see a clear picture.

You'll push the TV/VCR button if you want to toggle back and forth from the VCR picture to the TV picture (which will be technically blank since it's on the 'line input selection.)

Hope that helps.

Panasonic NV SJ205 changing RF settings

Hi,
Your VCR has input to record video-audio signal. Here is 2 options to record program in vcr.
1= You need to hook up video-audio cable at Monitor Out in TV and video-audio in at VCR. select Line-1 or Line-2 (where you hook up cable) in vcr and insert cassette with Record Tab intact, VCR is ready to record TV program. select desired channel on tv and hit record button of vcr, recording will start.
2= Plug RF antenna / cable wire in RF In of vcr and tune desired channel in vcr (get help of vcr's user manual for that) and push record button to start record directly in vcr.
Have further query, let me know please.
bye.

Troubleshooting vcr

Usually one connects a RF [cable tv, Dish tv, antenna ] cable to the INPUT of VCR & a RF cable output to tv (antenna )INPUT .The reason is that if you are watching TV reception (Cable, Dish, etc) and you want to watch VCR tape, just push the tape in and it should start playing picture.
From what I understand that you are trying to say:: [ YOUR NEW TV ! ] you MUST connect to the RCA jacks, CABLE S with RCA plugs that come out of the VCR to the new TV [ INPUT & OUTPUT] jacks .When you ["" use input botton on VCR remote"" ] you are using a DIFFERENT input signal. You are not letting the TV know that you are changing the signal from RF(antenna, Cable, Dish, etc)to the RCA signal ["" I use my input botton on my vcr remote""]
