My wall oven had an F9 message during cleaning. In addition the control panel was hot to the touch. The door was fine. Since then the F9 message comes on when I cook at high temperatures over 400 F. Yesterday it happened again and the front panel was so hot that the words surrounding the dials came off. In addition my advantium oven above it was very hot and the advantium was not on. My oven is just over two years old. The self cleaning was the first I have ever done. The serviceman came out and the repair is 1100 plus dollars. We need two new hinges they are bent so our door does not close properly. The fan does not work and the whole stainless front panel has to be replaced since the words melted off. Ge offered to pay half immediately. I googled and have seen several people have had a similar problem and it repeats itself. I am afraid to Spend this much to fix it, if it is going to reoccur. The repair tech had me turn the power back off and advised me not to use it.

From all the information I could gather on this issue, including speaking with a GE tech I decided to call in a repair person.

Hi. Error F2 in your oven means oven temperature sensor circuit failure. To resolve this issue you'll have to check the oven temp. sensor circuit if the reading is more then 1100ohms then it should be replaced however, if the rating is fine then it is the Electronic Range Control (ERC) that has gone bad & should be replaced.
