My LG TROMM WM2075CW front loading ultra capacity washing machine smells inside. Water collects in the bottom of the rubber gasket/ring in opening of machine. I clean it but it continues to collect hair, lint and water that gets really nasty and I feel my clothes don't come out as freshly clean as they could. Is there anything that I can do? Plus, the machine is level...my husband has checked it several times. Any solution would greatly be appreciated. Thank you.

I have the same washer now for several years now. I keep getting the smell now and then. After reading all these disappointed people I went down to the machine and cleaned out the "Pump filter". It had been smelling today, I was tired of this problem also. So i opened the little door at the bottom front left corner. There you find a little black hose, pull it out a little and pull the plug. There you drain the water that's laying inside smelling up the house. Now you un-screw the big black cap. Once you remove the cap, you find a plastic filter-catcher. I found paper, a dime, and several other things that came out of my pockets. You can take the basket to the sink and wash it out. Put it back together and try checking it in one month. Also I used some needle nose pliers to clean the nasty stuff around the gasket. At the bottom of gasket try pulling it back to get to the hair and ****. We have a dog, so the hair is bad.
There is a filter and the little hose that is at the bottom. make sure it's not stopped with sand if you wash alot of dirty dirty clothes. take the filter out and clean it meaning rinse it out. do it w/ a cookie sheet or something else under the edge of the washer to catch any extra water that may not come out of the hose.
think about it if you were water standing in a closed area wouldn't you get smelly also?
I clean mine regular and if it does start to get the smell. the hose is either stopped up or a bunch of junk in the filter below. The hose will not likely stop up unless you do alot of clothes with sand or dirt on them. Those of us that live in the south and go mudding on our 4wheelers may tend to have that problem.
quicly solved w/ a turkey injector to push wat4er in and a piece of a coat hanger to move the sand / dirt around and get the water running freely again.
Make a boil wash (with no clothes and detergents) put in the powder's drawer a cup of bicarbonate of soda. It should clean the machine and remove out the bad smell. Good luck!
I had a similar smell and called out a plumber. He discovered that the pipe was blocked, thus not draining out the water so dirty water was accumulating. He opened the pipe and got the water out and the fluff that was blocking the pipe
I have a LG front loader that also had a smell. We have had it for 3 years and it has had miinor smells before thut this week...it smelled like some died in there. First I ran bleach and hot water through a cycle but still had the smell. Then I put some drain enzymes through a cycle and still had the smell. Then I put Lime-A-Way (or any lime and scale remover that can be used in a washer). I ran it through a cycle and the smell is now gone. I'll see how long it last...but it looks and smells brand new now.
Leave the door open when not using your machine. That is the best solution, I hear people talk about this musty smell all the time. I do not have that problem at all. I have a front load LG Tromm 4.0, I leave the door open at the end of my wash day so that it can dry completely.

Same exact problem---disgusting---and it happens after every load whether you clean it or not. I do NOT have the steam function, but that shouldn't matter. I've had my machine LESS THAN 1 MONTH and I live alone. It shouldn't be doing this!!!!!!!!!
i have the same problem, the rubber gasket has a lot of mold and there is a lot of black jello like mold under the gasket, i tried to clean it but the smell won't come out. i ordered a new gasket from lg but i don't know how to change it. any suggestions?
Exactly same problem and it seems the load of wash comes out with same stagnant odor. I will try the lime remover and see if that helps. A colleague mentioend they were told to keep the door of the washer open when not in use. Will try that too
I have TRIED everything with this "wonderful machine"..it may save money but what is the point if the gasket does not drain water and sediment and causes mold?? My machine is in a traffic area of my kitchen behind louvered doors..i cannot keep it closed and why should I? i spent a fortune on my machine! Another friend who has another front loader from the early days reports she does not have the smell despite a closed door. The design of this LG gasket (and thus the machine) is faulty and I;m paying over and over again because I did not comes to terms with this til aover a year after its purchase and could return it). I have tried all techniques to clean machine and have had a service technician lecture me for 90 minutes (and have tried) all solutions to the rank smell including an expensive product called Whirlout from pool stores. When I wrote to the company I was told to get a new gasket...and how do I know it won't become like this again? My machine is only aout 14 months old. Stick with a machine that makes your clothes at least smell good. This stinks.
I have the exact same problem with my Tromm washing machine. I have never regretted paying so much for a washing machine. My clothes smell like body odor/mold the majority of the time. The machine smells harrific all the time. When drying my clothes, you can smell the god awful smell coming from the vent outside. This machine requires lots of cleaning around the rubber gasket where the water does not drain. Even with this constant cleaning/running clorox through, mold contines to collect on the rubber gasket. I am so dissatisfied with this machine.
My front loader has the terrible smell and is unbearable...what can remove all this mildew in the gasket....is the same problem of the gasket that makes it smell really bad.
I have the same problem, it started 1 week after purchase. I can't even close the door of the machine because of the strong mold. I called LG right after buying the machine and was told I should use bleach and run the machine with hot water twice a month and wipe the gasket after every use, Although this somewhat helps it does not stop the mold smell. I believe this is a defective design and hope a class action suit is started soon.
Same problem! I have to clean out the rubber gasket area after each wash. Definitely a flaw in product design. It is frustrating and there is no customer support with LG.
We have the same problem. We had the Tromm for about 2.5 yrs now.
It smells like sewer water that comes out of the filter or the little knob that is at the bottome left corner of the machine.
please help what we can do.
I dont have the funds to call someone to fix the machine. I just lost my job.
thanks
My machine started to smell soon after I purchased it in May 2006. Two years later, little water start to accumulate at the bottom of the rubber ring, and I have to clean the machine after each cycle. Now, almost 3 years later, water collects all the way up to the rim of the rubber ring almost every cycle. The water still accumulates every cycle. There are mold and black jello-like stuff inside the ring. I have not tried to fix it yet.
Me too! I will never buy another LG product as long as I live. We all have the same problem yet the company claims there is no problem. It is not just this model it is all models that stink to hi heaven, my clothes come out of the washer smelling worse than they go in. This is a faulty design that LG will not admit to. Come on we do not pay over $1000 to wash our washer 2 times a month.
