Cause of power going off: There is a bad 1000uF, 16V cap on the power supply board.

Solution: Replace cap. Radio Shack sells a 1000uF, 35V cap for $2. This will work.

Why did the cap go bad? The cap is too close to a heat sink and over heated.

What does this cap do? This cap sends a signal to an IC which keeps the monitor 'on' after the power switch is pushed. When the cap is weak, AC ripple voltage is applied to the IC and it sends a signal to shut the monitor off.

Opening the Monitor: These monitors are difficult to open.

The two plastic pieces snap together and must be pried apart with a flat screw driver.

After removing the stand, you need to insert a flat screw driver at the bottom of the screen where two slots are located. Then work the screw driver around until the two plastic pieces are separated.

Remove the cover plate and unscrew the push button circuit board.

Unplug the monitor cords from the driver board and remove the screen.

Unscrew the mounting screws from the power supply board and remove.

You will need to pinch the plastic support in the middle of the board to remove.

Cap Replacement:

Cap is located near a copper heat sink and the value will be on the side of the cap. It will be bulged up on the top. You will see burn marks on the board surrounding the cap. Unsolder the cap.

Install the new cap and solder. Make sure you connect + of the cap to + marked on the board.

Be careful not to solder across joints.

Keep leads long so you can bend the cap as far away from the heat sink as possible.

Reassemble monitor and turn on.

This should solve the problem.

Hi,
You can try the following steps:
1. Disconnect all the cables from the monitor
2. Wait for 5 minutes and press the power button in the front once ( donnot connect the cables at this step)
3. Reconnect the power cable only to the monitor
4. Power on the monitor and check if you see a self test running on the screen

If the selftest feature is not running the monitor has gone bad. All dell monitor if purchased on a seprate order ,hold a 3 yr replacement warranty. If you have got the same with your dell computer, call Dell to check if its under warranty.

Thanks

I have an HP Pavilion dv7. Suddenly I have no volume. The mute light on the keyboard is orange and won't change to blue when I tap it. The mute volume icon at the bottom of the screen indicates that it...

Candy,

First thing is first, Thank You for visiting our site!

The problem you having is a HARDWARE issue with that push button interface in that HP.

what you can TRY

1. Take the batteries out of it
2. Unplug it totally from power
3. Pu the battery back in then power it on
4. Then push that button

If those steps do not work the laptop will need a new interface touch board. What is happening is its not recognizing your trying to turn the mute off.

The mute is off in the operating system DOES not construe for a fact that the issue is resolved if the button is still orange.

You will need a new touch board if the reset does not work.

You might want to contact support.hp.com to have them send out a tech or have it repaired by a authorized HP repair center in your area.

I hope you found this information Helpful!

Battery? console has no charge when plugged into wall outlet I push power button blue LED comes on briefly , then red flashes 3 times, and the yellow LED lights up along with the health warning on the...

What color is the power light when the system shuts off?
Red: If the power light is red, or flashing red, when the system turns off, then the system's battery needs to be charged.

Blue: If the power light is blue when the system turns off, then there appears to be a problem with the system and it will need to be repaired.

If the orange recharge indicator light blinks while the system is plugged in and charging, then it is likely that the battery is not installed properly.

If you have ensured that the battery is installed properly but the orange light still blinks, check to make sure that the battery is a licensed by Nintendo. The only licensed Nintendo DSi battery will have the model number "TWL-003" (Nintendo DSi) or "UTL-003" (Nintendo DSi XL) and will display Nintendo's logo.

The monitor will not turn on. When power button

First--was it working?
Did it suddenly stop?
When you see the LG logo, then it goes away, does the power light turn from green to amber? Sounds like that doesn't happen.
So--if you are getting a signal, you should see something.
If there is no signal, then the power light should change from green to orange.
With no lights at all, I suspect a faulty monitor.

Compaq presario 2500 notebook won't boot

This sounds like a weird solution, but it worked for me. I recently bought a used Presario 2500, it worked when the guy showed it to me, when I got home it didn't work two days later. I tried several tips from the web, finally I started pushing several buttons randomly. I pushed the Email (Envelope) button, and the computer powered on suddenly. Now, the Envelope button is the only button that will power the computer on. When the computer is on, that button will also bring up Outlook, but when the computer is off, that button turns it on. Let me know if this fixes it for you.
