Viewing problems The t.v. is showing a distorted, multiple picture across the screen interspersed with a completely distorted picture that occurs concurrently with a rhythmic clicking sound that sounds like something is clicking on and off or attempting to reset. I am technologically-challenged, so please be patient with my ignorance...don' t know how to say it otherswise.

Projection sets have two very common problems.

The first common problem is convergence

These sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the picture to look normal. This is called convergence.

When its out of alignment the video will look 3-D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired. Convergence problems are very common on all Projection TV sets including Sony, Samsung,JVC,Philip Magnavox,Panasonic,Akai,Pioneer, Hitachi,Mitsubishi,Zenith and others.
You can get more information and a DIY convergenece repair kit with instructions from the link below.

Here are some of the most common problems with these sets...

*Screen Looks 3-D
*Colors wont align
*Screen may look distorted or warped
*No Audio/Video - TV Shuts down - May also make a constant chirping sound

Problem #2 - Another common problem is dull or washed out video.

Your set may have one or more of the following symptoms....

*Dull looking picture
*White looking picture
*Halos around objects
*Red/Orange looking picture

Change TV resolutions to view slide shows

Nope. The picture resolution has to be 1080 to fill the screen completely. Using stretch and zoom will distort the low rez pictures. No option to change resolution on the TV itself.

I have an HP 2009m monitor. When I try to have

The problem is that your picture is not of high enough resolution. You need to get a higher resolution picture. There is nothing wrong with the monitor. The picture is distorted because the picture does not contain enough photographic data to scale to the size you are stretching it to. Higher resolution = larger picture without distortion.

Distorted color on hdmi output

If you haven't already stumbled across the fix: I just had the exact same problem after about eights months of casual use. Unplugging the DVD player for about 15 minutes and then plugging it back in "solved" the problem. Until next time it happens, anyway.

VCR problems on my new Hannspree HDTV

It is unlikely that you will be able to solve this issue. This is due to the way a digital TV works.

The output from your VCR is an analogue signal - a constantly varying electrical signal carrying information about the picture. This is interspersed with a synchronisation signal that tells the TV where the start of each frame begins within the stream. With me so far?

When you fast-forward a tape, two things happen: the sync signals appear faster than expected and bars of static noise appear across the picture (I won't go into the technical details as to why!)

On an old analogue TV this isn't an issue - The way they work means that they will display some sort of picture. In other words, whatever signal is coming in (no matter how corrupted) it will show it on the screen.

Digital TVs are different. They have to read all the information for each frame and process it before it is displayed. When you fast-forward the tape (and the sync signals are at the wrong speed and interspersed with noise) a digital TV gets 'confused' - It cannot make sense of the signal, so ignores it, acting as if there is no signal at all (hence the blue screen).

Most VCRs are designed to retain enough of the signal that some sort of picture can be displayed while fast-forwarding. However, because you are recording in LP mode (which effectively halves the normal speed of the tape and also reduces the quality of the recording) there just isn't enough information in what is left for a digital TV to recognise as a 'proper' signal.

Your only option is to revert back to SP mode, or treat yourself to a new digital recorder :-)

Hope this helps,

Matt.

Blue streaks across picture

Can you describe in a little more detail what the symptoms are? Are the streaks thin lines or are they large thick swashes of Blue? Is yur video still visible? Sounds like it may be the blue convergence amps or the resistor tied into the amps. is there anyway you can post a picture of your screen distortion?

Black horizontal lines across bottom 1/3 of screen

This is due to vertical section failure. Change the vertical supply rectifier diode and supply filters. Then check zener diode leakage in pumpup circuit section. Also check any electrolytic capacitors leakage in vertical section. If it is old model tv change vertical height, vertical lenearity presets also. I hope given details useful to you.
