SOURCE: Jura E9 grinder spins but does not grind
I had a similar problem, and solved it by turning the grinder by hand against resistance. Apparently the grinder wasn't really turning during the cycle and needed to be cleared. If your beans are "hopping" this may be a different problem.
Testimonial: "Grinder is turning but old bean oil is clogging it. Stirring beans on next brewing after drying the grinder was also customer services recommendation"

Hello,
This sometimes happens when after cleaning the machine. I will explain: The beans have a natural oil on them as you know, that also helps coat the hopper for beans to fall. Sometimes when cleaning the machine, the natural oil that is built up around the hopper is not there. Once you brew a cup sometimes the light will go off on its on. If the beans by shaking the machine will not drop down, try using a wooden spoon and help get them going. Other way, is cleaning out the beans completely and then spaying some PAM (used for cooking). What I also did was locate the complete manual for you to download and read page 21 in the trouble shooting area. Here is the link you can copy and paste and put in your browser.
