The generator worked fine until I changed the oil.
Now it runs but produces no power.
Circuit breaker has not tripped.
Replacing capacitor did not fix the problem
Hi, remove the electric control panel & check the wiring as sometimes we have seen the wires coming off the voltage change over switches.
Also some of these units you can check the connections in the rear of the alternator & if it has brushes that they are not stuck.
Another problem we have had is the trip switches have went faulty but still switch operates ok, they need to be checked with a probe type tester for conductivety.
You may have accidentally applied AC to it with it not running, that will erase the residual magetism in the armature, see my fix in the other question for no power output.
Found bad capacitor tested by loading capacitor and seeing if it held voltage I used a 12 volt battery

generator run , but it is no producing power
Both of mine run but no power. Trying to find a capacitor to replace the bad one.
Just got the porter cable 5500 brand new. started her up and ran great for about 8 hours. She still runs, but is not producing power.
Brushless kind.
What can I check?
generator quit making power while in use, no breakers were tripped
"Field flashing" fixed the problem for me.
