First... yes you should remove the racks before using self cleaning. Broil pan too if it is in there. Second... the doors will lock by themselves, you don't need to do anything there. typically it takes about 3 and 1/2 hours to go through the cleaning cycle and yes you can use the cooktop while it's cleaning.

A wonderful feature is that the ovens self-clean with the press of a few buttons. Only one oven can be programmed to self-clean at a time. Remove the oven racks. Turn off the oven light and close the door. Press the "Clean" button and then press "Auto Set" to automatically clean the oven for 3 hours. Press the "Auto Set" pad again to set the oven for a 4-hour clean cycle, or press the button one more time for a 2-hour cleaning. The oven locks when in cleaning mode. When the oven is finished cleaning, the word "Cleaned" will be displayed on the control panel, and the oven will remain locked until the oven has cooled, which takes about an hour. To cancel the self-clean cycle, just press the "Cancel" button. Simple!

An easier option for you would be to download a replacement manual. Go to managemyhome.com and register. This is a FREE service. Once registered, log in and go the "Home Manager" link at the top of the page. Look for the "Owner's Manual" link under the drop down menu and click on it. Enter your Brand Name and Model Number. Your Owner's Manual is listed in a downloadable .pdf format that you can save to your computer or print out for ready reference. I hope you find this information helpful. Instructions for cleaning oven Please.

The instructions for using the self-cleaning feature on your range is listed on pages 18 thru 21 in your owner's manual. If you do not have an owner's manual, you can download or print a copy for FREE at managemylife.com. Just type in your model number under the "Manuals" link on the web site and your manuals are listed in .pdf (Adobe) format.

Lost manual for self cleaninf Maytag oven. It's about 8-10 years old.

My answer is to NOT use that feature, as generally after most people use that :Feature" straight after the oven faults, you see that "Cleaning" mode simply heats the oven up wayyy up to like 900 degrees up, and after this the temperature sensors generally "Go" so my advice is ... use elbow grease and save a lot of possible problems, especially with a 8 - 10 yo unit.

I lost the operator's manual for my Maytag electric range, model No. MERH752BAW. I need to know the procedures to use the self-cleaning oven feature.

I would not advise using the self clean feature. The extreme temps harm the electronic controls. Losing the manual might be a blessing.

I have an electric Maytag stove/oven but don't know how to use the self cleaning feature. What do I do?

Never ever use the self cleaning feature. It is there to make your life a little easier, but it also damages elements, door locks and control boards. The heat is just too aggressive. We see it here VERY often. It is a great way for the appliance makers to earn income in spares. Use the traditional method, spray walls, base and racks in the oven with Easy Off - No Odor Foam, and put a large roasting pan of boiling water in the middle shelf (this prevents the spray drying off). Leave overnight, and wash off in the morning.
