Power Surge and WD16BA

I own a SMEG washing machine/dryer - model number WD16BA. The machine was on yesterday when we had a power surge in our apartment - I heard a bang, when the power came back on the washing machine started clicking through all the programs and continued filled with water, resulting in overload and water emerged from underneath the machine and flooded our kitchen. Having switched off the machine at the mains and drained all the excess water from inside the washing machine, upon restart the machine just simply clicks through all the programs one-after-another, yet continues to fill with water. Can this problem be solved? Thanks Mark

Hi from retired Englishman in SW France,

Methinks you could do with a manual for your washer- for now and probably later!
Manual
You will need to type into your search engine/web browser '(make model number) washer manual' and you should be presented with a number of sources from which you can either download for free or have to pay a nominal amount.
You could also try the manufacturer's web site direct ;-0)

If this has assisted you please consider a 4 thumbs up for the rating.
Thanks and good luck!

Model ATF6000751. Replaced speed control board a month ago when final spin failed. Worked fine until yesterday. Could something else be causing the board to go bad?

Power Surges. In my area we suspect that 70 to 80% of the repairs here are caused by power surges. They happen all the time, andyou do not have to lose power to have one. They can happen when you have lightning, windstorms or beutiful sunny days. You have to have a 2000 joule surge protector or higher on your washer, refer, microwave oven, and gas stove or dryer if you have them. For your washer , gas dryer, and refer you have to have a rectangular box wall mount surge protector. You cannot have a power strip surge protector on a cord as moisture can get into it and cause electrical fires. I have seen three major fires caused by power strips behind washers. Lowes and Best Buy sell wall mounted box surge protectors with a 2150 joule rating that have 3 plugs on each side that rotate from front to the side so that you can plug your refrigerator into the side and not have the refer sit out from the wall any more. Good Luck, Appliance Specialists.

Drying operation on WD16BA on smeg dryer

I think all you have to do (that's how I do it anyway), is turn the program knob so that the line is at the beginning of the drying stage (the little 'sun'), having first of course chosen the desired amount of drying time with the knob on the far left...
Hope this helps, good luck...
