TX - SR606 and Dish Network 612 HD

Hello,

I just had Dish Network ( AT&T) install a new High Def receiver. I have all my components in a hallway closet and needed a IR/UHF Pro remote from Dish to communicate with my components through the wall / door.
I have everything working through HDMI connections, the picture looks great, all speakers working fine, but I cannot control the volume of the TV with the IR/UHF remote. I have to physically walk over to the ONKYO and turn volume up or down.

Dish provided me with the following codes without success..

1642 / 1660 / 1662 / 1678

Any additional codes that you are aware of that I can try?

Thank you

What I think I did and how I fixed it!

FACTORY RESET ON EVERYTHING!

All you have to do is to do a factory reset on everything, but I thing mostly on your 605, but I would do it on the TV as well. I think what had happened is after I set everything up for the first time, it worked great. As the days when on I started to play with all of the futures the 605 and the TV had to offer. I was turning them on and off to see what everything did. What I think I did was, I turned on something in the 605 that the TV did not know how to cope with. If I had to guess, I think it is the Lip-sink feature (Spelling?) in the 605.

Anyway disconnect everything, look in your manuals of the TV and the 605 to see how to do the factory reset on both. Then turn your TV on. After it does it’s start up for the first time (again), start connecting the 605.

It has been working great for me after I did this. Do not count on help from the people you bought it from or the people who made it. This stuff is so new they do not really know how to fix it.

SOURCE: Onkyo TX-SR606 getting no sound from HDMI sources

Not sure if this is your fix, but I had what I thought was the same problem. I played with my Onkyo quite a bit ensuring the correct assignments for HDMI, audio and all that stuff. Turns out I neglected to make sure the output devices were properly assigned. Many devices aren't default to output sound over HDMI. I changed the audio out settings on the cable box to HDMI and suddenly the Onkyo worked great. I know, I'm an idiot for not checking that in the first place, but maybe someone out there is having the same trouble as well.

SOURCE: Onkyo remote won't control Samsung components.

I got an Onkyo RC-717M remote control. It is the remote that comes with the Onkyo TX-SR706 receiver. It is a learning remote. When i entered the cde for the Samsung Blu-Ray it did the same thing as the other remotes I got from Onkyo, the pause, next / previous track buttons wouldn't work for the Samsung BD-P3600. I used the learning function of the new remote and programmed it to work. It works ok now but it sure was a hassle to get it done. In fairness i should have called Onkyo support but their support hours don't match my schedule.

SOURCE: onkyo tx-sr606 hdmi problem

The problem is with the HDMI daughterboard in the AVR is bad. This is a well documented issue on this interweb! A general search in google can confirm. Here are some stuff cut and pasted frm their site and another forum. Onkyo USA Corporation (hereinafter referred to as Onkyo) hereby warrants all Onkyo products PURCHASED DIRECTLY FROM ONKYO OR AN ONKYO AUTHORIZED DEALER- WARRANTY PERIOD (from date of purchase) New Products: Receivers 2 years Parts & Labor-- You can go to the Onkyo webpage to find a n authorized service repairman.
*** I took mine to a service repair place today, the guy said that he had two that he just fixes yesterday. He said that this issue has given him a ton of work. Just make sure that you have your receipt from AN UNAUTHORIZED DEALER and that your still under warranty.

I cant connect my dish satalite to my ILO telivision, should it be connected to the ATV port or the DTV port.

If you satellite is HD don't connect it to either port, Use an HDMI or component (5 wire cable) so as to receive high def signals. If you must uase channel 3, You want the ATV input. On channel 3 YOU WILL NOT RECEIVE HD PROGRAMMING> check your hookup guide from Dish network.

I have an old echostar receiver, but i was going to buy the HD dish Vip 612 DVR. I wanted to knwo if the new DVR will take my saterlight card? and can i manually upgrade my LnB to a HD version?

Hey there, ihacharya! I saw your post and would like to offer you assistance. You are going to need to upgrade your dish satellite to a newer model as the LNBF on the one you have isn't capable of receiving HD signal. You can email me your account number so that I can look into that for you. My email address is [email protected].

Hope that helps!

Tx-sr606. Signal lost to TV on HDMI Out. Coming in from Component Video or DVD or Game Components. Audio is playing but I get no signal to TV. HDMI Cable is fine. usually have to turn it off or unplug...

Check the most popular solutions. Also check that if you give the receiver some time (in my situation at this moment about 10 minutes) after you turned it on an selection of source.

I just received the new capacitors from a German store and will install them 2 weeks from now.

My dish network receiver vip 612 push to open door won't stay closed?

Hi, Mary with Dish Network Customer Service. I am sorry you are having a problem with the door on your 612 receiver box. The only to resolve this is to exchange out the receiver box for a cosmetic issue. They will send a new receiver and you can return that one. Please let us know if you have any other questions.

Only recieve HD programs on my Vip 612 receiver. I want to receive non HD channels as well

Hello! The guide might be set to only HD. You will find this out by going into the guide. At the top Left of your guide, you will see that it says left to the right of the DISH Network logo. If it says ALL HD, then just press the GUIDE button again, until the list says ALL CHAN or ALL SUB. This way, you can view not only HD channels, but SD channels as well! Hope this helps!!!!

Need to Frequently Reset Dish Network HD VIP 612 Solo DVR.

When you bring up your guide look at the top of the screen and you will see the LIST: if this says ALL HD then press the guide button until you see ALL SUB or a menu and select ALL SUB. If your guide keeps changing by itself its possible to have remote interfence since you have a UHF remote, especially if you also see channel changes as well. Try setting the guide and go from there. If you still continue to have issues call 1-800-333-3474 for tech support for extensive troubleshooting or at dishnetwork .com/tech.

Hookup the comcast hd box to my new lcd tv?

You can use either component (Red/Green/Blue video and red/white audio) or HDMI cables to connect the Comcast HD box to your TV. Most times you can get these cables for free at the Comcast front counter.

If it is me and I am spending that kind of money, it is going to be sick, os here is sick. 7.1 dolby surround and 1080P HDMI, 135W per channel, and right now if you go to FRYS.com, it is normally $500.00 bt for right now it is only $449.00. But if you put this in, be prepared to buy a PS/3 as your next investment (Th best way to get Blu-RaY at an affordable price, plus many other features) and an upconvert DVD layer, which is only about $100.00 or less today. Then you better get ready to hear from your neighbors and the cops, because they are going to think a war has broken out in your place. Enjoy, I play movies that the sound is just so realistic, I hate to leave the house anymore. Also, remember, speaker placement is key, so know the optimal environment for your system and if you need one, I may be able to hook you up with a system room tuning DVD for next to nothing. This will allow you to setup your system and place your speakers optimally for your environment. good Luck.
