Zv420mw8 magnavox vhs to dvd recorder

I'm trying to record a vhs to a dvd and every time I hit the record on the dvd it clears the picture off the screen and records black with no sound. Any thoughts?

Are you pressing the record button on the actual box? I'm not sure if you are supposed to be able to record that way, but I can't either. If that is what you've been trying, then I suggest this:

What I had to do was hit the "Dubbing" button on the remote control. It will automatically start the VHS tape and start recording to DVD.

Hope this helps.

I have Magnavox DVD player/vcr DV225MG9, does it record from vhs onto dvds? And if not, what do I need to get so that I can copy all of these old vhs movies to dvds?

it won't record dvd's its only a dvd player. only the vcr records
if the vhs movies your trying to record are movies like star wars and stuff like that it's copy protected and no worth the trouble. if it's home movies or something you recorded from tv they might work. if you get a dvd recorder/vhs player.

Recorded pictures onto a DVD on my computer, they won't play on the ZV420mw8

I looked up your DVD player's model number online. It is not equiped to read picture files (.jpg, .bmp, etc.) You have to be carefull when you transfer pictures to a DVD on your computer. If you just burn them to the disc, most DVD players wont be able to read the information. Frequently you have to use a program like Microsoft Movie Maker to get them in the right format.

You may have to start over and use a DVD making program to make them a video and not just picture files.

Hope this helps! Don't forget to rate!

I cannot record using a DVD/VHS player.

You can record. From antenna to converter box, from converter box to vcr. From vcr to TV.
TV on Channnel 3 VCR on channel 3, and set channel on converter box. Then Record.

Time recording works the same way, but you can set for only one channel at a time. Tht is the only restriction that I have not overcome. The converter box sets the channel. Gee Whizz

This recorder only records inline. This means that there is no channel on recorder. It records whatever your satellite or cable box is showing. You'll have to change the channel on that.

I don't know that this will work for timed recording. You'll have to make sure that your cable/satellite is on and set to the proper channel before you leave. This wont work if you're recording multiple shows on different channels while you're gone. In that case you may need a different recorder.
