I can not get s405 lexmark to receive fax on mac

I can send faxes just fine, the printer is connected via WiFi - and I can receive faxes on the s405 just fine on the printer. But what I'd like to have is the following: when receiving a fax, I'd like it to go through the driver on the Mac and through the receive options - instead of being picked up by the s405 first. I tried setting the auto-answer to 9 rings, and also to manual - but the mac just doesn't know about an incoming fax call to pick-up. Any thoughts are welcome!

Although you can send faxes from your computer, I regret to inform you that the S405 printer software does not have the option to pick up faxes. For the receiving option, you can only configure the fax receive settings using the printer software.
I'm sorry if did not have the answer you expected.

SOURCE: Need driver for lexmark z640 compatible with MAC OS X 10.4.10

go to www.lexmark.com click on drivers and downloads then click on OS compatibility lists. Click on MAC OS X and then click on home or small office/home office. This will take you to a complete list of compatible drivers for the MAC OS X for all of lexmarks printers. If it does not appear then there are no MAC OS drivers. Which I looked at for you and they do not have any. But you will see a list for the printers that they do have them for.

SOURCE: Running Mac OSX 10.5.6 how do I get a driver for Lexmark z515?

Go to: http://downloads.lexmark.com/perl/downloads/downloads.cgi

And select your printer model and OS model. If it doesn't have 10.5.6 specifically listed, select the newest driver and try that. It should be compatible.

SOURCE: Hi I used the link that you provided and entered

Choose the XP drivers, they should still work if Vista ones are not available. If they do not, then Lexmark will not be making drivers forward for that model of printer and it'll be time to go get a new inexpensive inkjet.

SOURCE: Lexmark 2600 scanning to MAC-no can do

Edward, I have this same problem. Were you able to solve it? Anyone, can you help? I have installed the drivers. When I connect the printer to my Mac, it launches ImageCapture and previews the scan fine. But I am unable to get the "scan" button to become active, adn there is no place to save the scan. If I click "save pdf to iphoto" it saves a pdf of the entire screen, rather than just the photo. Appears not to be Mac compatible for scanning purposes. Thank you for your help.

The all-in-one printer fax will receive a fax with no problem, but will not send a fax. It will scan the document, dial the number and connect to the other fax machine. It says sending, after about

Line noise is one of the common causes for fax problems. You might want to have your line checked for any noise.

Also, you can try to lower down the fax send speed. To do that, on the control panel of your printer, press on Setup > Fax Setup > Dialing and Sending > Max Send Speed > 9600.

Do I need black cartridge to fax

Generally you don't need ink to fax. Like sending a email that the receiver needs to print. However some printers will lock up and nag about cartridge empty before they let you move a inch

Not sending faxes

If you're only having problems sending to some numbers, check the dialing rules for that number if it needs an area code or country code.

There's nothing wrong with your fax or line. You can also try loweing down the maximum send speed for your fax. To do that, on the control panel of your printer, press on Setup > Fax Setup > Dialing and Sending > Max Send Speed.

I can't get the fax to work on S405 all in one - did work but now has decided not to but I haven't changed anything!!

Please try this approach:
  1. Try to resend the fax. There may have been a problem with the quality of the connection.
  2. Decrease the transmission speed of your fax modem. Press Setup button > Fax Setup > Dialing and Sending > Max Send Speed > 9600. Resend the fax.
  3. Re-register your user information - fax name and fax number. Some fax machines block faxes without sender information. Press Setup button > Fax Setup > Dialing and Sending > Your Fax Name (re-enter your fax name). Follow the same steps and go to Your Fax Number - re-enter your fax number. Resend the fax.
I hope this helps.

How to get my s405 to receive a fax

You might want to check the User's Guide for your printer. To access it, on your computer, click on Start > All Programs > Lexmark > Pro200 Series > User's Guide. Go to page 62 to know how to setup your printer to fax.

If your fax is already setup - meaning you're already able to send faxes but not able to receive. Make sure that the Auto Answer is on. To check that, on the control panel of your printer, press on Setup > Fax Setup > Auto Answer.

If you have an answering machine, make sure that your fax will pick up 3 rings higher that your answering machine. If you answering machine picks up on the 5th ring, set your fax to pick up on the 8th ring. You can change that under fax setup.

If you have a voice mail service enabled in your phone, you'll need a distinctive ring feature for your fax to work if it's being shared on the same line.

I cannot receive faxes on my Lexmark 7350 All-in-One. I can send them Fine

hello there, Try Connecting the Lexmark All-in-One directly to the phone port...but make sure that Do NOT connect any phones to the EXT port.
Make sure the Fax receive mode is set to answer the fax after 3 rings. (Press the Fax button on the operator panel and then press Options three times until ANSWER FAX WHEN is displayed. Change the settings using the - or + buttons as appropriate.)

If this does not work then do get back for any further help.
Thanks
