First check whether it is possible to buy a new drum for your model, if possible buy a new drum then remove the toner from your printer, separate the drum unit from the toner, if you check thoroughly the left and right sides of the drum unit how the drum has been fixed in to it you will be able to find the way remove drum from the unit, then replace the new drum and fix it. Don not tough the edge wiper blade, rotate the drum and check whether it rotating smoothly in both direction.

SOURCE: The drum light came on

I continued looking and found where someone else had the same problem. I opened the front cover, held down the go key for 10 seconds and closed the door. This reset something because it works now.

Thanks

SOURCE: need to clean my 5240 brother laser printer drum

Chances are if your drum requires cleaning, it could be faulty or at the end of its life. However if you must clean it DO NOT use any cleaning agents , chemicals or water. Use only the softest lint free cloth you can find and give it a gentle wipe over

Why is my paper curling in my HL 5240. Does it have to do with me putting in a new (non refurb) Drum?

Paper curling is usually due to paper that has absorbed too much moisture. Try a new **** of paper that is sealed and I would bet that the problem will disappear.

Brother Laser HL-5240 has a status light and toner light. Fuser was replaced but no help.

that error usually indicates that the toner has reached its end of life
or the drum is not properly installed.

i had one person who put the toner in but threw the drum cartridge away.

Brother printer prints solid black on one side

This is caused by a faulty drum/charging circuit or laser unit. The drum is positively charged with static electricity and a laser draws the image onto the drum (changing the charge to negative) the toner is positively charged to it will adhere to the negatively charged image which is now on the drum. your problem is that the drum is either not being positively charged or the laser is charging the whole drum. There is a corona wire on the drum, remove the drum, sweep the corona wire (there will be a tab that moves left and right) and try it again. next step is to replace the drum. if you dont have a spare drum or one from another printer then it may be more cost effective to buy another printer as drums are quite expensive and it may not even be the problem.

My Brother HL 5240 has Status toner, drum and paper lights on, I bought it on 4/30/08, new toner, plenty of paper, it showed on computer: printer is off line, but it was connected with computer. Really...

The drum light will flash on my brother HL-5240 Laser Printer when printing but it continues to print just fine. Does this mean the drum needs to be replaced?
