I just purchased a large 150 year old home in Mass. The basement is field stone and very unfinished. When I bought it there was standing water at all times. I have since installed a sump pump and french drains (outside) on the wet side wall. I still have 90% to 95% humidity. I purchased the LG last week, but I do not think it is functioning correctly. All dehumidifiers I have used in the past the condensing unit would run for a long period of time. This one runs for seconds at a time. The humidity is down to 80% but will not go any lower. Is this LG damaged?
It sounds like there is an issue with either the controller board or humidity sensor. LG has a 5 year warranty on these models. You may want to contact them first instead of opening it up because it could void the warranty. My recommendation is to have this serviced if it is under warranty. They usually will tell you of a service center nearby which will service it free of charge since it is under warranty. If you do not live near a service center they may ship you a replacement and you send your old dehumidifier back to them. Make sure you have your reciept when you contact them so they can verify it is under 5 years old.
