No PC stated, vast models made, read the service tag?
NO OS stated, XP? w10? what?
this tells the helper the YEAR, after all
a 1 year old PC is not like 20 year old PC.
Is this the windows, (which?) login screen?, you didnt say what screen it was? and if it looks NORMAL there?
sounds like the OS password wrong or the OS is corrupted to me.
getting help lacking what notebook this is , is very hard.
The HP compaq rules on notebook made after year 2006
try power on and hammering the F11 key, to get the recovery going.. (do the startup up repair first)
power on , F11 over and over until...... bingo recovery mode.
but first do you have data to backup, that is first.
some folks do , others don't, so that dictates next step. first really
;)
find the service tag on your Laptop
read it,
see all those words there, do tell.
see the tag here.
http://pcdied.com/
local PW fixes here.
http://www.pcdied.com/passwords.html#local
if the OS is corrupted, it will ignore
good pass words
on the windows login screen
why no first tell the helper
the windows login screen shows, normally
does it? (as it did ever day for years)
if yes, are there other accounts there?
on mine it's. like....
me,
admin
nobody.(admin 2)
I keep 3 accounts on all PCs so if things go bad, i can use one to fix the bad account.
if all 3 go dead, it's OS reload time.
or backup data time.........
yes, the windows asks for the magic PW, recovery stick.
when you first run windows on new PC, it asks you
to make a back up , on USB memory stick.
of your password files.
nobody ever does that ,(billions of users)
so all that is useless now.
all that matters is
good password
and non corrupted OS.

Let me help you with that concern!
First, the computer asks you for a Password Reset Disk right? And then you inserted a BLANK Floppy Disk since you dont have a Flash Drive. But here is the thing, the computer is asking you a "Password Reset Disk" and in order for you to do that is, after you created a password into your account at your computer, the computer suggests to create a reset disk by inserting a floppy drive or a flash drive. And what the computer is doing is copying the password data into the floppy drive or to a flash drive. So inserting a blank floppy drive will do nothing on recovering your password. You need a password reset disk, but then again i think you did created a reset disk, so what you can do is to Reinstall the Operating System. I know your files are important but that is the only last resource that we can do. My suggestion is just back up all your files by inserting you hard drive into another laptop or you can just call drivesavers. You may visit their website at www.drivesavers.com and this is only a tip if still want to backup your files. But the resolution is still reinstalling the operating system.
Thanks!
I know it will work. Be Positive!
Your good rating will be very much appreciated.
Good luck and thank you!

YOU NEED TO GET INTO THE C-MODE SETUP TO DELETE ANY PASSWORD AND USER NAME. go to www.toshiba.com look for the support and go there. the fee they charge may be a whole lot less that bringing it to a shop.
BUT--this is a tricky issue..you need to contact toshiba as to the keys to get into C-Mode setup to do this.
the message referes to the fact that a removable drive (CD ) or ( mass storage device) was taken out before the computer could close out that program properly. It is looking for it to close it right.
The Compaq drivelock feature is designed to protect the data on a laptop's hard drive by assigning a password.
This password protects the drive in the event the laptop is lost or stolen, but can be removed when necessary.
Knowing how to remove or change the drivelock feature can make your Compaq more useful and more secure.
Power on your laptop and enter the drivelock password you established when you turned the drive protection feature on.
You will need this password to access the drive and turn off the drivelock feature.
Click the "Disabled" option in the drivelock menu.
This will turn off the drivelock feature on the Compaq laptop.
Do not enter anything in the password blocks.
Log on to the laptop, click the "Start" button and choose "Shut down." Choose "Restart" from the menu to power cycle your laptop and verify the drivelock setting is off.
If the drivelock setting is off you will not be prompted for a password when the laptop starts up.
hope this helps
