I have an odd shaped dark region of pixels appearing in my 37" Septre lcd screen after about a year of regular use in all inputs and modes. Any thoughts?
I have the exact same problem. a dark spot that almost looks like a water stain. it is less visible dependingon the predominant color on the screen at the time...for instance it almost disapears if the whole screen is blue. It is ver irritating and makes me seriously regret purchasing the tv if something like this happens only after a couple years of use!I have the exact same problem. a dark spot that almost looks like a water stain. it is less visible dependingon the predominant color on the screen at the time...for instance it almost disapears if the whole screen is blue. I have exactly the same thing happening. It seems to be spreading to more area. This is so upsetting. It's only three years old & it all started about a year ago. I paid good money for this (A LOT more expensive back then) and to have such a flaw is frustrating!I have exactly the same thing happening. It seems to be spreading to more area. Same problem. Started within first 6 months. Honestly thought it was something someone wiped across the screen at first. Should have demanded refund.

Seems a lot of people are experiencing the same problem with areas of discoloration. Don't bother contacting Sceptre as their service department is not only rude but will avoid servicing anything even if it is still under warranty.
Most people will notice movement and/or expansion and contraction of the discolored area making it either darker or lighter depending on which it does. Stick to name brand manufacturers that stand behind their product with a decent warranty.Seems a lot of people are experiencing the same problem with areas of discoloration. I had the exact same issue. I bought a new tv for my family room and moved the Sceptre to a seldom used location. When I did turn the Sceptre on after a couple of months, it was good as new. The dark areas disappeared completely

If it appears using any input - TV, Video, HDMI, etc. it is an internal fault and needs serious repair. If it appears on only 1 input it might be internal or external to the TV. Try feeding the same input with a different device.
Hi,
The problem is more or less with the LCD screen itself. The manufatcurer covers dead or burnt pixels.I would suggest contact Vizio Support on the following number

hi,
usually you can correct this issue with only a few system checks, dark streaks can be caused by damaged pixels on the screen, in which case you need to replace the TV.
Inspect where the dark streaks are on the television. If the streaks occur at the same place on the top and bottom of the screen, they are due to the formatting of a movie or television show you are watching. This is normal. Also, if the streaks appear on the left and right of the screen, they are due to the show being filmed in full-screen instead of wide-screen. This also is normal.
Change the input setting so you are viewing the contents of a different device. If the dark streaks are gone, you know they are due to the device connected to it. However, if the dark streaks remains no matter what input the TV is connected to, the problem lies with the television.
Inspect the cable connection. Oftentimes when connecting a computer to an LCD TV, you can have strange dark streaks across the screen. Use a DVI-to-HDMI cable connection when plugging in your computer, then press the "Menu" button on your TV remote, select "Picture" and chose "Square Pixel." See whether the image adjusts and the dark streak goes away.
Contact the manufacturer of your LCD television if the dark streak remains. This streak can be caused by a defect in the television; if the TV is still under warranty, you can have it replaced.
In most of the case, the problem is a defective display LCD panel, this problem in some terminology is called PIXEL RETAINING, it means the pixels are locked up, there is no good permanent solutions for it, you have to change the LCD panel.
The HDMI cable was causing "Display connected non-HDCP compliant" error message to appear. When I reconnected my DVD to TV using regular cable with 3 color connectors(i don't know what is the proper name for that cable) that error message no longer appears on my screen and I was able to watch my movie normally.
In XP, Go to control panel, display, settings tab and change the screen resoution slider. If you have a regular shape screen (not widescreen) choose 1280 by 1024 pixels. If yours is a widescreen, choose 1280 by 768 pixels.
