HP C6280 rest

There were two power cuts close together and now the printer endlessly cycles. It suggested that turning the printer off on the front would cure this but it never managed to close down. I finally unplugged and powered it again but this made no difference. I suspect it needs some sort of reset operation possibly using the front button combinations. Anybody have any any ideas?

To do a hard reset you pull the plug when printer is on. Then you press and hold the power button for a few minutes to drain unit of any electrical charge, memory, etc. Then replug to wall and turn on.
Did that do it? If not you are screwed because hp will only help you out if unit is under warranty. Otherwise they will refer you to a forum or suggest you get another printer - an HP of course! If you go to forum ask for a hidden code to
reset unit to factory defaults. Good luck

It sounds like you've done all the troubleshooting properly. I would contact HP or search their website for other users that have had similar problems. Also might be a good idea to check HP's site for new drivers, they change almost daily :)

SOURCE: hp psc 2210 won't initialize after a power outage, just makes clicking sound

I've had that EXACT same problem before. I suspect there is a sensor somewhere that tells the motor that the head is in full retract position but I'll be damned if I can find it! What you're hearing is the drive belt slipping over the motor gears because the motor won't stop but the head can't move any further. The moter works in timed phases so the sound is like a loud:
click,click,click,click...pause...click,click,click,click...pause...
Unfortunetly this a mechanical/electrical problem that can't be fixed thru the user interface.

SOURCE: printer cycles on/off and displays "improper shut down"

Got the same problem following a message "Printer ink failure" code 0xc19a0035. Instructions say to shut down using button on/off. But printer refused to shutdown. After 30 minutes, I disconnected power cable. Removed cartridges. Reloaded cartridges. Reconnected power cable and got "Improper shutdown" message with continuous cycle. Solution: 1. While the printer is still turned on, unplug all cables and cords at the back of the printer.
2. Unplug the power cord also from the wall outlet...
3. Wait for two minutes.
4. Reconnect power cord to the wall outlet first.
5. Press and hold the pound (#) and six (6) buttons.
6. While holding down the two buttons, reconnect the power cord to the back of the printer and after two seconds, release pound and six buttons.
7. Turn on the printer if it turns off... and it's fixed.

HP 7210 OfficeJet All-in-One errors

My Hp came with a setup CD that has very specific (required) drivers. Truthfully, if you machine is using the wrong drivers for the selected printer, it will interpret the bi-directional communication with the printer wrong - as evidenced by the false "Paper Jam" message.

Here's a path to HP's drivers for the 72000 series printer and Mac OS.
