Simple solution, firstly do not press the reset button to long as it will erase all software, or you will have to do this the hard way. google the software called ScanTool run that from either ethernet or wireless, this tool shows you the AP-700's ip, mac, and name (some techs run these AP's coadjacent so it shows the name as well). You can change the ip of the AP-700 from here most of the time with the proper pass, then you should be able to connect to it regardless. if this dont help ... Proxim/Support/AP700 you will find more of an in depth approach of these things there.

LAN cannot see on arp -a command prompt

sometimes you have to ping the device before an ARP request will be sent. If you are trying to find out the IP address, use a network scanner. Some wireless utilities will actually give you the IP address of the AP you are connected to also. If all else fails, factory reset the router and you will then know the IP address.

Cannot get onto the internet

Try to perform the following steps: -

OPen ncpa.cpl and check the status for the connection.
if wireless shows connected, then perform the following steps
  • Boot your computer in Last Known Good Configuration, from advanced Boot menu ("http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/Advanced-startup-options-including-safe-mode" to know how you can enter in Advanced boot option.). Then try to go online.
  • Boot the computer in Safe Mode With Networking and check are you able to go online?
  • open command prompt (cmd (run as administrator)) and try to get IP and Default Gateway Address vai "IPCONFIG"
  • try to ping IP, DG, www.google.com and 173.194.36.50(which is an IP address of www.google.com), and check what replies you are getting.
  • If all these 4 links are pinging, check for proxy on the browser.
  • If default gateway is not there, then power cycle the computer as well as router.
  • If IP address of the website is not giving any reply, then type the command on command prompt " ipconfig /flushdns" and restart the computer.
  • If you are not getting your IP address then try for these commands " ipconfig /release, ipconfig /renew".
  • While pinging the website, if you are getting Request Timed Out, then type the command on the command prompt window and restart the computer " netsh winsock reset".
If still the problem persist, try with new user account.

try to perform the step (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135)

LAN Network, both PC's with static IP's and defaullt and DNS addresses are 192.1683.1.1 tried the other defaults. Both machines connected. when i ping each others IP's request timed out. please help

Hi,
Can not really understand what exactly you have done. Please try the following steps:
1. Assign static IP on pc 1 as 192.168.1.2 assign subnet mask as 255.255.255.0. 2. No need to assign default gateway and DNS. 3. Assign static IP on pc 2 as 192.168.1.3 assign subnet mask as 255.255.255.0. 4. No need to assign default gateway and DNS.
Open dos and try to ping. In case if the ping fails then disable all the firewall on both the pc's and try again.
If you are running windows vista then in network and sharing center make sure network discovery and file sharing is enabled.
Regards,
Rashish

Have a D-Link EBR2310 How can I test it to see if the port to the to the computer is working? The port gren does not light.

You are saying you cannot connect through the router ... Change the ethernet cable and/or try other portson the router.

Does your computer connect to the WWW when you wire it directly? If it will work when connected directly then it should work through the router. That is your test.

WLAN having consistant high latency with frequent all-out fail

I would suggest borrowing a different known working wireless adapter, and test trying that. Or test using a wired connection, just to prove it is the adapter. Perhaps the wireless adapter you are using is flaky.

Voyager A210 Laptop shows when connected to wifi "Limited or no connectivity"although others are connected on same router at the time. I have removed wifi program and reinstalled No difference

This is just a try. Find out the Default Gateway on the other computers. If they are using a static IP then you need to get on. At someone else's computer click Start and Run and enter Cmd and click OK.

Now type in ipconfig /all. Look for IP Address, Subnet Mask, Default Gateway and DNS Servers. Write it all down. Then find an available IP address by using the Ping command.

In the same Window, type in ping and the IP Address of the computer you are at. That's just to show you what it looks like when you find an IP already taken. You'll see "reply from..." with the address you just pinged. Now ping again but change the last octal in the IP (the last number) in the IP address to something under 256. And ping again. Do this until you get a message "request timed out". You've just found an available IP.

Cannot Log on to my Router

These steps solve most of the problems with logging on to routers. 1. Connect a computer and a router directly with an Ethernet cable, putting an end in one of the router's LAN ports. Check that both ends are secure. 2. Check the Internet LED is lit. If it is not, troubleshoot the light status, as explained in the manual. 3. Check that the LEDs for the ports with cables are lit. If they are not, try moving the cable to a different port. If there are still no lights, then troubleshoot the light status, as explained in the manual. 4. Check the LED on the Ethernet adapter is lit. If it is not, then troubleshoot the adapter, do not continue with this document. If the Ethernet adapter was not made by NETGEAR, contact the adapter's maker. 5. Select Start > Run. Type cmd. Type ping 192.168.1.1. If there is a message "Request timed out", type ping 192.168.0.1. If that also has a "Request timed out" message, then your computer is not making a connection to the router. 6. Otherwise, your computer is connected to the router: * Make sure proxies are not enabled. If using Internet Explorer, select Tools > Internet Options > Connections > LAN Settings. Uncheck "Use a proxy server for your LAN....". * Delete offline contents. Select Tools > Internet Options > Delete Files. Select Delete all offline content, and click OK. (This is to clear any possible previous router log on page.) * Try accessing with a different computer, or with the Netscape browser, if you have it. * Delete cookies. WARNING. Do not do this if it's possible Web sites you visit need cookie information such as your logins and passwords. 7. Power off the router, and power it back on again. 8. If you still cannot log on to the router, then do a hard reset on the router. (Described here: http://www.fixya.com/ThreadView.aspx?thid=102071&prdid=252225) 9. If you know how, check the computer's IP address and DHCP. The IP should be in the 192.168.0.x range, and DHCP should be enabled.
