Battery seems dead. where can i get a replacement battery?
Waking up your c330...
If you left your Garmin c330 on running the battery will have 1% life left. If you turn c330 back on again, it will flash screen for 3 seconds then die, even charging it at this point will not wake it back up. TO BRING IT BACK TO LIFE... plug in the power home or car into Garmin c330. There is a tab in the front Garmin gray frame of your screen. You must take like your fingernails and under the logo "GARMIN" pull the whole gray plastic frame off. Underneath the plastic frame to the right hand side. There is a "RESET" button. Make sure power is plugged in while hitting reset. Your battery should come back to life. Cheers
If you have left your Garmin c330 on running, chances are it will die with a 1% battery life. If you don't have a charger and tried turning with on with 1% battery, it will turn on after 3 seconds then die. This point on there is no way to charge or turn it back on.
Your must to the following:
First you must have either car AC or home DC power plugged into the unit.
You see on your Garmin's c330 front face there's that gray/silver frame. Take your fingernail and under the brand name "GARMIN" there's like a little tab where you stick your fingernail in and yank it out. The gray/silver front frame should come right off and underneath should have a "RESET" button. WHILE THE POWER IS PLUGGED IN hit the RESET and your Garmin c330 should come back to life. Cheers!

For my C330, I ordered the replacement battery from BatteryJunction.com. Item was Tenergy Li-Ion 18650 3.7V 2600mAh rechargable battery with tabs. Price was $8.35 + $3.45 shipping. Total $11.80. The replacement battery did not have the overcurrent protection pcb on it so I transferred the PCB from the old battery. I tried using the heat shrink but the battery became too thick for the metal bracket to fit around it. I cut off the heat shrink and wrapped the battery with electrical tape. Much better fit. Tip: after removing the 4 black screws to separate the case, pull the case off slowly so you can see how the antenna fits into the case. If you do not seat the antenna correctly when reassembling the case, you may not get sufficient satellite recemption.
Here is a video that demonstrates how to replace the streetpilot's battery.
The company that produced the video sells a kit which includes the battery and tools necessary to replace the battery yourself. See: http://www.newpower99.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=GARMIN+STREETPILOT+C330&Show=ExtInfo I swapped the battery of my brother's dying GPS using the aforementioned kit and all went well. His Garmin is back up and running smoothly.
There is a good posting with pictures at http://www.gpspassion.com/forumsen/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=67938&whichpage=1 I got my battery with the tabs added at http://www.batteryjunction.com/li18cyce326h.html I ordered some 3/4" heat shrink tubing from E-Bay.
If the fuse and cradle are good and unit will not charge by computer and will not come on, then do the following for a c330. Disassemble unit, then disconnect speaker/battery connector from printed circuit board. Individually cut the red, green and black wires from the battery. Tape over the wire ends of the connector and battery wires that were cut. Re-assemble and unit will work when plugged into 12Vdc. If you want to use the battery, it must be charged with an external Li-Ion charger using red + and black - for the charging connections to the battery. After charging externally, then with the connector to the pc board disconnected, solder and tape the battery wires to the connector wires where cut. Re-assemble everything and it will work & charge.
Have you tried charging it with a USB?
Garmin wants $150 for replacement. See link below for proof

THE BPS SCREEN REMAINS BLACK AND NO SOUND. SUSPECT IT TO BE A FUSE OR BATTERY NEEDS TO BE REPLACED SO WOULD LIKE TO KNOW HOW TO DO THAT OR WHERE I MAY GET IT SERVICED. IT'S MY "CUP OF COURAGE" ON THE ROAD SO WON'T GO ANYWHERE WITHOUT IT. PLEASE ADVISE. THX, PEG
They are about $11 on ebay with free shipping. Just search for it. There are several on there.
The fore screws are under the trim plate on the front
Very easy.top of unit there is a thumb indentation. remove faceplate screen with it and then remove four srews located at the corners and there is the battery. unsolder and resolder. reverse procedure and you're done
I purchased an old used Garmin c330 on eBay and when I received it it would work great in the cradle of the Garmin windshield mount. The problem was when I turned the unit off it states in very dim white letters that it was charging the battery. It was not. When I took the unit out of the cradle and pushed the power button nothing happened. Fuse was Good, 12V in my truck is always hot even when not running or key not in the ignition etc.
After emailing Garmin several times we agreed it was a dead battery that had used up it's life. So bottom line I ordered a 2600 proper battery for this unit. It comes with the little white plug- in and also two shorter wires that are brown and white and two longer wires that are brown and white. I did not try and un solder the existing soldered wires but instead cut them fairly long. Then after using my wire stripper on the four cut wires from the original battery and the four matching wires on the new battery I used my jewelers loup (the wires are just to tiny for my old eyes) I twisted each of the matching (4) two short and two longer, white and brown, and then was able to solder the four pairs together to their matching wires going to the c330 sides and had plenty of wire to work with. I then taped the solder joints and carefully closed up the unit. It did take about 45 minutes but it came out just great and now my c330 works great on my truck power or battery power. It will charge while in the truck or from my PC or from my wall charger. I also purchased another power cord out of China that goes from my 12V cigarette lighter to the USB connection on the Garmin or from my other 12V power outlet on my truck to the USB connection on my Garmin and therefore I have a backup power cord at all time in my truck besides the power cord to the Garmin cradle. ( was able to buy the 3 additional power cords for a total of less then $8.00 brand new out of China on eBay and all three work perfect!!! That way if one should fail I will have the other.
There is a good video online to see how to open the Garmin but I spliced the wires rather then un-soldering the existing ones and risking ruining the existing soldered connections. My unit works great now!!!! Battery was purchased for $16.99 including shipping and it was the exact one needed. I could have purchased a cheaper one but glad I did not, such as the 2200.
Actually 400Mah does make a difference, I ordered 2600mah from megacapacity.com about 3 weeks ago and the battery performce better then when I got my gps.
The web site lists both 2200Mah and 2600Mah , the 2200mah battery actually 5$ cheaper and it comes to 20$ flat . http://www.megacapacity.com/23901.html I ll gice it a try. I dont think 400mah makes huge difference in performance.

I have a Garmin C330 since 12-24-'09. It was updated on 8-1-'08. It will NOT acknowledge my house or street address nor any other on my street. I have lived here thirty years and find this disconcerting when planning a return trip home from a distant place. How can this be cured.
I d highly recommend to replace the original one extended battery I got mine for 25$ with free shipping , replacing the battery was a snap . gpspassion had good instructions. I have provided the link below in case you are interested

Bought Garmin c330 about 9 months ago. Battery is running down and will not recharge. Nothing wrong with cigarette lighter outlet.....have a 6 month old Honda van with two lighter outlets...neither one will recharge battery. I use the Garmin constantly as I am on the road to new places all the time.
Do I need a new battery? Can I replace it myself? Where to get?

How do i replace the battery on a garmin streetpoilot c330?
how do i open the thing up
My garmin seems to be dead. I can't charge it with the car adaptor nor with the computer attachment. I"m wondering whether the battery is so far gone that it just won't even charge or whether it simply quit functioning. I need to know whether it's likely that the battery is simply dead and if so what battery am I looking for, where am I looking for it and how do I replace it?
