  • YukonAxxe Jan 06, 2008

    I'm using a DFI LanParty UT RDX200 CF-DR motherboard. I'm experiencing the same problems as addressed by Mantu. I don't have any beep codes at power on, nor do I have any display or display signal on my monitor. The cpu fan and the floating chipset fan do engage at power on, however, that's the best it gets. I've ruled out a bad video card and ensured there is not too much thermal grease on the cpu.

    I'm now lost and am looking for an answer, please help.....

    Thanks in advance, Axe.

Obviously, it could be a transcient error or what we call the soft error. There could only be two culprits if you encountered this kind of problem. One is, it could be the power supply. If the power supply is faulty the electricity that flows within it (which is AC converted to DC)could have a lower or higher amount of electricity instead of a normal rate.

But if your PSU is working properly ( you could check it by swapping the PSU to another system unit ) then it could be the MOBO. According to standard IBM POST error codes, no beeping sound could be a faulty PSU or MOBO. It is more practical but to replace the MOBO, but still you could use the memory, videocard, HDD and other devices.

I have the same problem and same motherboard as i u... i have 3 pcs all having problems in post... one i revive just by clearing the cmos but the other two stil a blink... only the cpu fan is running, i dont even get beeps on removing the memory and turning on the motherboard without the memory... i tried to get a working powersupply, graphic card and memory stil its a blink. i tried also removing the processor thinking it may be the causing the trouble but it works with other pc... so i conclude it is the board that causing problems... i guess its fried... before trying to buy for a new one, i suggest try to clear cmos and check it yourself by testing it with working parts... but i definitely conclude its motherboard is fried up... hope i have shared something could satisfy u. tc and may the force be with you...

Well, I too had the same silent unit problem. The only thing that worked was the system fan, the hard drive and the DVD. I tried a different (working) CPU, and the original CPU worked fine on another MOBO. Tried a different (working) power supply, memory, graphics card, still nothing. I just cautiously popped out what seemed the be the BIOS chip (it read K7S41GX....), cleaned the pins 0n the chip and on the MOBO and carefully replaced the chip. The system booted fine after that.

Sheephead you should post a new question rather than piggy-back on this one. Also if I understand you correctly you?re saying your PC works with the old graphic card. Please post that info in your new posting. Mantu, while it could be a bad video card if you?re getting no POST beeping or video display I would be more inclined to suspect a power supply related issue or a short. Did you recently do something that lead to this problem?

It could be one of two things, in my opinion. Either you have a bad graphics card (in which case the BIOS should be giving you a beep error code), so you should try to test your graphics card in another machine. The other thing it could be is that the cooling fan isn't properly seated on the cpu or you have too much thermal compound that is sitting on the bridges of the cpu (the thermal compound should ONLY cover the CPU core).

First, try another power supply if it is supplying enough power..sometimes damaged power supply can lighten your motherboard LED because it only consume small amount of voltage..
try another memory and video card..
if its still doesn't work try to remove the motherboard to the casing then touch the back of your cpu..if it is hot, open the heatsink then put some silicon heat transfer compound..
gudlucks..

Initial troubleshootings:
1. Clean the RAM memory and try on other slot.
2. Check whether your mobo is not touching to metal body of cabinate, that can make short ckt on mobo and no display.
3. Check your power supply is enough to give display, try by removing power supply to HDD and FDD.

Hi all! If you have similar problems check up condensers around of the CPU. It can be "pregnant"? Replace condensers on similar if you are friends of a soldering iron.

SOURCE: No beep,No Display on my monitor,only CPU heatsink fan is moving

have you thought about changing the battery on the motherboard, also checking that the fan on the cpu is seated properly with enough heatsink paste as both these issues will stop the pc from booting

try replacing all the leads that attach to your hard drive including electrical extensions + IDE,SATA and the ones that attach from your motherboard to hard drive
make sure all leads that are attached to your drives dvd\cd 3 1/2 inch floppy have secure connections and are not faulty or just replace them they are probably old and faulty ?

No beep,No Display on my monitor,only CPU heatsink fan is moving

You motherboard has onboard video. It's possible it needs to be disabled and the option changed to use the pci or pci-express slot for the Ati card you installed. Since you have no post error beeps this is the best place to start. Also I had built a system not to long ago and had a similar problem. Resetting the cmos on the motherboard (usually a pin combo) solved the issue.

Start by hooking up your vga cable to the onboard video.

Hope this helps.

No beep,No Display on my monitor,only CPU heatsink fan is moving

hey
there might be problem with SMPS also. I mean there is one signal comming from SMPS - Power Good
if that singal is not comming then machine shows this kind of symtoms.
To check Power Good from SMPS -
Requirements ->
a) small wire/ pin
b) Multimeter
Procedure ->
1) Disconnect all power supplies going OUT from SMPS.
2) Locate the Orange Wire , Green Wire, Blackwire
3) Now insert small pin / wire into Black + Green wire (Make them SHORT) and provide power to SMPS --> SMPS will get started.
4) Now check the Multimeter rating for Orange wire --> it should not be less / more than 3.3 - 3.6 volts. --> If it is less / more then there is problem with your SMPS and you need to get it repaired.
5) In india it will take near about 100-150 Ruppes to repair SMPS.

alternate ->
You can replace your SMPS with other working SMPS (best option will be your friends system) and check whether same symptoms occurs or not.

Other Damedge -
If SMPS is working fine then there must be problem with FEW SMDs available on your motherboard. For this repairing in INDIA it should not cost your more than 600-700/-

Do the power supply, cpu fan and disks start to spin after power up?

Does the PC speaker sounds a sequence of beeps? Can you identify a pattern, like 3 short beeps indicates a memory problem.
