Toshiba Laptop Won't Charge Or Turn On

  • The first thing that you need to do is to turn off your Toshiba device.
  • Remove all the power cables and cords from the laptop.
  • Now detach the battery from the laptop by sliding the locking mechanism.
  • While the battery is removed, plug the cords back into the system.
  • After that, try to turn on your system by pressing the power button.
  • If it works, the cord is fine and not faulty.
  • If not, make sure that the electrical outlets are properly plugged into the other machine.
  • If still does not work, the power cords are dead and needs to be replaced.
  • In such case, the battery will not charge.
  • Switch off the laptop and thus remove the power cords.
  • Check the battery whether any corrosion, dents or dings is there or not.
  • If found, change the battery with a new one.
  • You can also clean the battery using some rubbing alcohol.
  • Now push and snap the battery into its slot and plug the power cord back into the laptop.
  • Charge the Toshiba Laptop for overnight and try not to use the laptop that duration if time.
  • Remove the power cable and press the power button.
  • Check whether the error is still there or not.

That is a common problem with the Toshiba. The center pin tends to get broken off. I have had to repair them by either installing a new mother board, or removing the mother boars and soldering in a new power port.

SOURCE: For laptop: Toshiba Satellite A105: My battery

Start by trying another power outlet.

The power adapter should have its own light. If it doesn't light up then the adaper is bad. Kensington.com sells very inexpensive universal power adapters. You might also find a good deal on eBay.

If the adapter lights up then it may be your battery. Notebook batteries are only good for 2-3 years. If you let them sit for a long time without a charge they may only last 1-2 years.

Vote for this solution if it helps.

SOURCE: my toshiba satellite m305ds4831 laptop will not

It's a motherboard hardware issue in all likelihood.

There is NOTHING you can do but update the firmware bios. The problem is that most bios firmware update programs require both ac and battery power at the same time :(

You can try to do it anyways by visiting Toshiba's support page for your model and downloading the firmware from there.

It probably won't fix the problem but it's still worth a shot....sometimes it works ;)

SOURCE: Toshiba Satellite C655-S5082. Won't power

Hi.

Take out the AC power jack and then remove the laptop battery. Plug AC power back in and see if the laptop will turn on. If it turns on let it boot the operating system and then shut down as normal, remove the power cord and reinsert the battery and again see if it will switch on. If it does then there has been a glitch with the battery. If it doesn't then there is a problem with the battery.

If the laptop won't switch on either with or without the battery then there is a possibility that the motherboard has developed a problem.

Good luck.

I have lost my installation disc for my LEXMARK 3500 4500 printer and I want to re-install it on my lap top.

It works perfectly fine with my P4 2.8 and my older Athlon 1GHz box. ... the only drama we had installing the system was getting the local printer installations .... I have it set to connect when I need the printer, and disconnect when I don't, ... Then I plugged the drive right into my laptop's USB port and the transfer took 1 minute. ...

I wish to remove the broken charger port of my toshiba portege m500 and replace it with a new one. Although i dont want to randomly takes things off it until get to the charger port. help would be much...

You are fortunate as it appears that your DC Jack plugs into the motherboard via a harness, so there should be no soldering required. Clicking this link will take you to a nice step by step with detailed pictures on removing the motherboard on a Portege M400: http://www.irisvista.com/tech/laptops/Toshiba-Portege-M400/take-apart-tablet-pc-1.htm, it should be close enough to your M500 to get the gist of the procedure you will execute. I would follow the dis-assembly until you can access the DC Jack, replace it, and reverse the procedure at that point to reassemble your Portege. At the bottom of each page is a link to the next page up to the removal of the mother board, but you won't be going that far.
Take a look at the step by step and the photos to see if you think it will help with your repair and please let us know what you think?

You can retrieve your data by removing the hard drive and connecting it to an USB hard drive adapter then plug it into the USB port of a working computer. This computer will see this as an external storage device, you can then open the various folders and files to back up your data.
You can then return the hard drive back into the Toshiba then format the hard drive and reinstall Windows to get your Toshiba working again.
You can download thedevice drivers for your model laptop from the Toshiba WEB site from theirdownload page. Make sure you enter the model of your laptop so you can get thecorrect drivers. First 2 of your problems are due to the fact that your laptop enters hibernation (or hybrid sleep in windows 7) and windows cannot restore your last saved state. The 3rd problem indicates you have windows problems (bad/not updated drivers, filesystem corruption, application issues). I would suggest you to reinstall windows.

I have a toshiba tv with usb can i plug a blue tooth dongle in to make it connect it to my lap top

No you cannot. The usb port on your tv is for viewing pictures and playing music. You would need specific software installed on your tv to make the bluetooth work. Since your tv is not a computer it cant be used in this way. If you want to hook up your laptop I suggest using the blue vga ports on both devices and a vga cable. You could also use hdmi if your laptop and tv support it.
