The black cover on the front of the mower is held on by 2 screws from underneth, remove the cover and that will give you acess to where the cable connects to.then you can use a pair of pliers to squeeze the end of the cable to disconnect it from it's mounting hole.
The first cover screw (or bolt - 5/8") is easy to locate. If you're like me and you never wash the underside of your mower, you'll swear there isn't a 2nd bolt but there is. It's located on the edge of the circle that the blade rotates in. If you run your finger along that circular edge, you'll feel a bump and that's the bolt head, but it's undoubtedly caked with old grass, so you'll have to peel that off to really see that it's a bolt head. I found that this part is the most difficult of the entire job.
