Hello scooter 34 1,

Are you able to get a new mic for your radio? Because I really think the problem is in the mic. Here is a test buy a cheap replacement mic that can be used with your unit and swap it out with your current mic. 9 time out of 10 this will solve the problem. If not the problem may be with the sensor switch inside of the unit itself, the sensor switch detects when the mic is activated, it avoids the galvanic response of the metallic switch in the mic. The switch could have malfunctioned. However I repeat, that I believe the mic has malfunctioned.

I hope this helps,

You may consider contacting Get Support at Motorola Solutions or a Ham Radio interest group online. Probably too specific for FixYa.

The 'mute' button is on the radio and I can't get it off. The model of the radio is Motorola XTR446. Thanks

Here is a link to the user guide: http://www.motorola.com/staticfiles/Business/Products/Two-Way%20Radios%20-%20Unlicensed/_Documents/XTR446/Static%20Files/XTR%20Manual%20EU.pdf?localeId=103

The XTR446 does not have "mute". But what you might be experiencing is a problem with the radios matching one another completely, such as the "interference code" being set differently among the radios. Check your frequency and code to see that they match the other radios exactly. Also, check your radio's mic hole for dust, dirt or debris. This can mute/muffle transmissions.

If this does not solve the problem, you may have a radio in need of repair.

Best regards.

I have a motorola mts2000 and it just started having sound come from both the earpiece and the mic. I have tried several different commports and mics and it still has not fixed the problem.

Hello,

Try this,

Remove the battery, let the radio sit for about 5 minutes. Replace the battery WITH the mic attatched to the radio and turn the radio on.
Hope this helps, Bill,

Motorola GM300 Question

Check your antenna connections and coax for loose connections or damage. Also check your hand mic. See if the problem disappears if you turn on the radio without the mic attached. The two most common problems with a mobile radio are antenna and mic problems.

If you feel these are in order, it would be wise to have a tech look at the radio.

How to set squelch on a motorola t73xta7ta7bk 2 way radio

That is a Maratrac, the squelch is adjustable thru a variable resistor on the audio/squelch board within the chassis. It is labeled R1132 SQUELCH, and is located very close to the locking handle. Some models have a metal bracket that holds the interface board, (thats the only board in the chassis that is mounted vertically), if you remove this bracket you can see R1132 alot easier, but do not need to remove the bracket to adjust R1132. Clockwise tightens the squelch. One catch though, for this adjustment to work, the radio must have been programmed with the unmuting/muting setting in the RSS, set to And/Or. It comes from the factory set for Std/Std. And in my 15+ years in the business, I have seen only one programmer that changes this setting. Me. Good Luck.
