I have the same problem, the amber light is blinking. If this is a power supply problem within the unit, how do I fix it? Help!

    Thanks

Hi,
To help you better , could you let me know , when the system goes into sleep mode, the power light in the front of the tower is it amber or blinking amber or is it of some other color.

If the power button is blinking amber , the power supply on the unit is going bad.

Thanks

My computer will not come on the monitor light is blinking and it won't boot up. I don't know how to get it out of sleep mode

depends on your comp, but some you can get out of sleep mode by hitting the F5 button, others by hitting the Ctrl and Alt at the same time and hit Esc while holding them down..

Dell optiplex boots directly into sleep mode

Try hitting F8 key to access the windows boot menu, Choose safe mode. If you can not get in to windows that way, you will need to reinstall windows.

Monitor keep going into "sleep" mode

Check the power setting in control panel of windows. If you have a monitor from another computer swap them and see if the problem stays with the computer or monitor.

Sleep problem

I've seen this on many Dell machines, and I've found no real fix for this. It seems that this function either works or it doesn't. You can do a restore back to a point that you remember it working properly, but eventually it will start doing it again. I've decided that this is a glitch with Dell's systems. You can also do a bios update from Dell's support site, sometimes this helps with the little glitch they pick up.

Hard Disk and Booting issue

go into your BIOS and on the bottom of your screen there should be a (last good config) of (fail-safe config) value for one or=f the F1 to F12 buttons. also. are you running a 4gb hdd??? or is that a typo? anyhow, XP REQUIRES 2GB at all times free if your hdd is running at less that that (cause its full) your boot up could be messed around. finally make sure that the little plug on your hdd is across the Master or cable select pins not the slave as this can cause probs too. good luck.
