I have a compaq presario laptop. In excel you have to use the function keys. when using my function keys such as f4 a picture of my monitor , computer, and projector shows. The F4 key is not a key by itself. Its similar to the number keys, where as you can hit shift and you cet the symbols on the numbers.
Watch out for Fn+F4 as that is the VGA external monitor mode.
my guess is this means.
"my monitor , computer, and projector shows."
you used 2 key words here, one is monitor. a laptop has no monitor, so you added one.
then said the word projector, well if you have that the the external monitor is removed and now is a External VGA projector
or own a dual port adaptor ,etc. (me blind cant see what you have there at all)
the FN+F4 key is a toggle.
like mine.
1: internal
2: extenral
3: both
4: auto.
did you read your manual yet, at HP, we are not HP we have no manuals here at fixya. not one.
but no model PC stated. at all just

If your "F" function keys are a second function of the keys they are on there will be a key, usally located in the area of the lower left corner of your keyboard. If the "F" functions are in color, so will the key that activates them. The idea is that you hold down the Fn key while striking the selected "F" key

You have to disable Office-Keys function by pressing the Office button (the first button on the upper row (to the left of the "Word" button).
You know that you have succeded when the Office-Keys LED light on the bottom of the keyboard is off.
Good luck!
