Check the cable line thats attached to the bad set on another set side by side. If the other set still has no channels your going to need to trouble shoot or replace the tuner control bad and the tuner assy.

Unable to restart ps3 with power button. No signal. Hit by lightning

Unless you had it on one of those surge suppressors that guarantees so many thousands of dollars in the event of damages, you are probably looking at getting a new PS3. Next time invest in an UPS to protect it - surge suppressors aren't good enough.

What is the first thing to check after a power surge caused by a close by lightning strike?

See if everything works. Stereos & TV's are usually the first to go. Items with digital devices go next analogs after that & grounded devices last. A whole house surge suppressor costs about 50 bucks and is just a few wires to connect & at the very least wall adapter surge suppressors should be connected to everything.

During a lightning storm my TV went off and won't come back on.

It's called a "power surge," and the only way you can prevent a power surge from destroying a television completely is to use a SURGE SUPPRESSOR, and make sure that the grounding for your electrical system is optimal (meaning at least THREE TRUE GROUND POINTS, usually GROUNDING ROD, GROUND MESH, and PLUMBING GROUND). Consult a qualified electrician.

"my olevia VCF-42FDV1U got zapped by lightning that hit an exposed cable line outside, now the power light comes on but no picture?

if just only raster then can not get any channel the tuner get bad which some parts get burned. if you don't have an idea how to replaced the parts just leave it to the trained tv technician or service shop.tuner is not too expensive unlike replacing an lcd monitor.

My Sanyo DP32648 was plugged into a surge suppressor and during a lightning storm the TV turned off. The DVD player, stereo and the clock are all working fine, and were still plugged into the same surge...

If you look at the power supply board as shown in the picture: http://assets.shopjimmy.com/media/catalog/product/cache/1/image/5e06319eda06f020e43594a9c230972d/s/j/sjdps153ap1a.jpg

There is a main fuse on the top left of the board covered by black shrink tubing, SLO-BLO 4A 250V. Check it out to see if it is blown.

Hi there! If you have a decoder and this was plugged in on the panel it may have damaged the input board. Alternatively have the decoder checked first or try another TV on the same decoder. Lightning can hit the dish and run down through the line into the decoder and/or into the TV. Best Wishes and Good Luck, JUS004

I have a 50 inch tv that does not show the boarder of the screen, and when you press menu, or volume, there are two writings that come out in blue and pink. I dont know what is it, is the tv completely...

Disconnect it from any inputs and then try to enter the menu. Sometimes peripherals like dvd players will activate built in settings for compatability. If it persists, try working with the menu anyways, it could be a malconfiguration that is fixable through correcting the picture options, color, and sharpness.

Though I have seen a similar problem occur on a smaller tv after a lightning surge hit it. The picture was fine but the menu, channel number etc, went off screen half way. If this is the case the tv is probably ok but the controller card is scrap and needs to be replaced. I'd contact the manufacturer if it needs to be replaced they maybe able to supply you with one.
