Casio g-shock mtg-900 gets ERR when trying to set atomic time
I just changed the battery and the atomic auto time set did not work. I have pushed the lower right button to get it set manually, but each time the watch displays ERR

Did you go to Casio and download the manual? I just did after my battery change and I hoping it updates tonight at 2,3, or 5am with my watch in the window.

You would have to make one. Why not look for the one you lost? Presumably you didn't do it outside sitting on the grass? Or return it to Casio for Service.
I am assuming you are reading the battery charge correctly. If so you need a new rechargable battery. Special battery so it is a little expensive. Make sure the person knows it is a "rechargable battery" you want. A regular battery will not work properly or recharge.
The watch will set itself at specific time set times, this is likely to be at 0200 0400 and 0600.
You will however be required to set the time zone, the switch is likely to be on the back.

The MTG-900 supports automatic DST which can be activated in the time setting mode. However, the ROM in the MTG-900 dates from before Congress (in their infinite ability to make mistakes) modified the DST schedule, so, instead of switching at the beginning of April and the end of October (as currently specified), it switches at the end of April and the beginning of October (as previously specified).
I do not believe that there is a way to change the DST scheduling or manually turn DST on or off. I've resorted to changing the time zone manually and turning off the DST feature. IOW, I set the timezone to Pacific (LAX) during PST, and, to Mountain (DEN) during PDT.
You most likely don't have the Daylight Savings Time (DST) set to AUTO mode. Just hold the ADJUST button until the time starts blinking. Then hit MODE and DST will show on the top. Hit RECEIVE as needed until you see AUTO in the bottom. Then just hit ADJUST 2 more times and you're set.
These instructions are actually for my Casio G-Shock MTG-900 but I imagine they're very similar for most G-Shock atomic watches.
