Try to press and hold the power button, and whilst keeping it pressed, press the reset pin with the stylus pen. Any progress? Otherwise, what about the ROM upgrade from the SD card? Has it been gone all the way? Was the image file stored at the root of the SD card? Could you try the process again?

i've tried all the other hard reset method settings non seems working for me except this http://www.hardreset.eu/o2_xda_exec_hard...

As it is already in bootloader mode, what happens when you insert the SD card containing the ROM image you want to flash in its root? Which card capacity are you using? You see, I had this phone a long time ago, but, as far as I remember, its bootloader FW is unable to handle SDHC cards. Please, use a card up to 2GB.

i have 2GB memory card SDHC but i have lots of music and some other applications in it ,i dont think the phone recognized the SD memory card anymore.cuz its blank with the word serial now ..i've try the hard reset thing but is not working .. neither the restore factory setting , i read on net that if the xda phones is in this kind of state that it need a re-flashing stuff.. but i don't know how to come about that ..my puter doesn't recognized the phone through usb , do you know how to retrieve back the phone wm5 default through the flashing stuff..what and what software need to be downloaded..??

Which file, exactly, have you tried to flash? A little suggestion: copy all the contents of your 2GB card to anywhere on your PC. Then, format the card, copy only the ROM image file to the root (i.e. directly, NOT inside any folder), and insert it into your phone. If the flashing process is successful, remove the card from your phone, format it again on your PC, copy the contents previously saved, back to your card, remove it from your PC and re-insert it into your phone.

Ok, I've finally found the way to turn a ROM for the Xda Exec into an image to be put in the SD card. I remember having done it like 4 years ago. It's not trivial, though. I could do it for you. Upload the ROM file (exe) you want to flash into your phone to any web file server (e.g. 4shared). I'll pick it up, will try to convert it and upload the results for you. No warranties that it will really work, though.

Before you try to flash a ROM into your phone through the SD card, which is not easy at all, let's try to boot it up, so that you could flash by running the ROM file you already have, from your PC. On a Windows XP machine with ActiveSync running, download this tool:http://www.4shared.com/file/UbkvElVL/UNI... Then, launch ActiveSync, click 'File > Connection Settings...' and uncheck 'Allow USB connections'. Connect your phone to your PC, and run 'Uni_Exitbootloader.exe'. Please, let me know how it goes. If your phone boots up, disconnect it from your PC and check 'Allow USB connections' back again.

According to my last post, have you already tried to run Uni_Exitbootloader.exe on your PC with your phone connected to it (and with USB connection disabled on ActiveSync)?

  • Anonymous Mar 10, 2012

Your phone is in bootloader mode. If you have not intentionally put it in that state, it might have entered it after an usucessful ROM upgrading process. Anyway, to get out of that state, just soft reset your device. The reset pin is located at the left side (in portrait mode, or at the back of the phone, when its screen is slided open). Just lightly press that pin with the stylus pen.
Hope it works for you.
Anyway, please, let me know if you need further informations.
Regards,Carlos

Look, if you are trying to upgrade from your PC, make sure there is NO SD card inserted on your Xda Exec, but, as you say your PC doesn't recognize it when you connect it, I see no other means than to upgrade from your SD card. That's what I meant when I suggested you to have the ROM image only (which is NOT the same file as the one you use when you are doing the upgrande process from your PC) on your SD card, and, whilst your phone is in bootloader mode, insert the card on your phone. In short: if you do it from your PC, DON'T insert the SD card on your phone. Otherwise, insert the card contating only the ROM image on your phone (but DON'T connect it to your PC). Not sure whether I've been clear enough here or not. Don't hesitate in posting here again, anyway.

This is the suggestion they provide on O2 website for such problems:

  • Perform a soft reset (PDA phone) or re-boot the device (Smartphone) and test again.
  • Perform a hard reset (PDA phone) or return to default settings (Smartphone) and test again. (read below before dong this)
  • Check that the application still fails to execute after you upgraded the ROM (OS) to the latest revision. If you haven't upgraded your ROM (OS) do so now and check again.
But before doing the hard reset, I suggest you try installing other camera software for windows mobile 5 and check if the camera still working (not a hardware problem). If its still fail, try the hard reset after backing up all you data.

O2 Xda Atom Exec cell shut down; can not turn back on. one time black screen white letters came on, last read said looking for usb port to down load?

The Black screen that you are talking about is the bootloader of your PPC. Its just like the BIOS of your Computer.

There might be some problem with the Operating system of your O2 Atom Exec.
Try a hard reset by holding the Power Key and then soft reseting.
I know that you will lose your data, but you may get your PPC working back.
