You Power Cord must be bad. If you cannot get on the laptop by using just the power cord, then the power cord is bad and needs to be replaced. Also it sounds like you've been operating off your battery since the power cord is bad, but now the battery is dead because the bad power cord was not charging it.
Get a new AC Adapter and Power Cord. Or it could be that the pin where you plug the power cord into the table is damaged or broken.
Overheating can be caused by: - running the saw on a long, low-guage extension cord or with a damaged power cord. Eliminate extension cords or replace with heavier cords, at least 12 guage or better. Replace power cord if damaged. - too much "stuff" packed in and around the armature and field so air cannot curculate and cool the tool. Blow out the body. - broken, worn or seized armature bearings. Check/replace if needed. - broken, worn or seized transmission and blade arbor bearings, usually caused by low or no oil in trans case, check and replace as needed.
One of the wires in your power cord broke. When you hold the cord up or put tension on it, you are pushing the broken ends together, allowing the electric current to flow through the cord.
