SOURCE: screen goes dark, sound goes quiet...
I have a sony KDF-E60A20 projection tv. The picture would go out for about 30 seconds and come back on. It would continue to cycle this way. The green power light would stay on and not flash. The sound would go off when the picture went out and come back on when the picture came back on. I tried taking the bottom cover off the back exposing the fan and blowed it out with a vacuum cleaner, also taking out the bulb and blowing it out. That didn't help. So I ordered a new bulb from Advancedlamps.com and that's what it was. I have now had it on and off for two days and no problems. Cost of lamp was $107.00 including shipping. Good Luck!

Check to see if you get 12vdc at the T-CON board's fuse, it can be no signal from the main board also.
If you are going to DIY and have proper tools, electronics knowledge, and know safety precaution then please read on:

This is a sort of slow start up and it can be a fault in the Power supply as the voltage builds up or in the display drive section where the fault seems the same as a circuit trying to act upon. There is a defined failre but only if the observations of the voltages are taken out and confirmed. http://www.fixya.com/support/r6055091-slow_start_up_circuit_cold_starting
Start with the Power supply and check if the filter and storage capacitors are topped up with the designed voltage, if there is slow build up then check the reason if in the drive for poor swithching or a poor capactior.
Next check the same with the main board , look for IC's getting warm , if so use a freeze it to cool and set the picture to start up therby confirming the IC. repeat check, observe for heat and changes in voltage.respond
