5600R speed sensor

Replaced the controller board and everything works except the speed read out goes to zero after setting. The reed switch is located about 1/8" from the magnet in the pulley.

SOURCE: Athlon iQ2 treadmill-just replaced motor control

If this is the same problem you had prior to replacing the MCB and speed sensor. I would check the drive motor, unplug unit then remove motor shroud then unplug the connectors leading to the motor itself. If you have wire leads and a 18v drill battery connect the leads into motor then attach the other end to you battery and if the motor will rotate ( approx. 1mph) , if it does the check speed sensor to see if the correct spacing between sensor and front roller ( check if the magnet has not fallen out of front roller pulley this also can cause you problems) hope this help!!

SOURCE: My Pro-form 980 CS will not start. I plug the key

Press the Stop and the Speed Up keys down while inserting the safety key. This should get you into calibration mode. Press the Stop key one time. The Time window should read EP:2P. Some newer models may also say FP, Pass, or the like. This means that it passes the EPROM test. If you cannot get into calibration or if the EPROM test fails then the upper console will have to be replaced.
If you get pass to this point then proceed with the calibrating the incline and speed.
Press either incline key and the incline will calibrate automatically.
Be careful the treadmill will run at full speed in the next mode DO NOT STAND ON THE WALKING BELT.Press the Speed Up key and hold it down until 85 is shown in the Distance window (some models may show the 85 number in another window).
If the top speed of the treadmill does not match the displayed speed on the computer console, adjust the max speed potentiometer (pot) on the motor control board. This is the board that the red and black motor wires connect directly into in the motor area. The Max Speed pot is clearly labeled
The max speed potentiometer is a small square with a mobile center and is located in one corner of the board and is labeled MAX SPD. It is near the harness that carries the speed signal labeled H,W,L. Using a small insulated screwdriver adjust this potentiometer clockwise to speed up and counter-clockwise to slow down the max speed of the treadmill. A tiny turn of this potentiometer will make a big difference in speed so be careful when making adjustments.
It is not important to get the speed set exactly at the max speed of the treadmill but do make sure to get the speed within .2 MPH of the max speed of the treadmill. For instance if the max speed of the treadmill is 10 MPH, make sure to have the speed set between 9.8 MPH and 10.2 MPH. Some models have a 12 MPH top speed, so please check your manual if you aren’t sure.
After completing calibration of the speed, press the Speed Down key. The treadmill will automatically return to 0 MPH. Please allow the unit to stop completely before continuing. Press the Stop key once and remove the safety key.

Life Fitness 95xi elliptical electronic panel will turn on but after a few seconds the screen goes blank and evenutally starts back at start up screen.

I would suggest verifying 6 volts output from the battery. From there, check the reed switch connection on the power control board. Also verify the gap between the reed switch and the magnet on the pulley. It needs to be close enough to the magnet to get a good reading. I am attaching a link to a video that shows the reed switch replacement procedure. You can see the magnet and also the slots in the reed switch that allow the adjustment. Power goes on, but console with not light up

If the console takes batteries, replace them. If this does not work or your console does not require batteries, check the reed switch or optic sensor. Reed Switch: Unplug the treadmill and remove the motor hood cover. The reed switch is mounted on the frame next to the front roller pulley. There is a magnet glued into the front roller pulley. When adjusting the reed switch, make sure it is pointing directly at the magnet. Move the tip of the reed switch within 1/8" of the magnet. Also, check to see that the wire is not damaged, and is connected to the console. Optic Sensor: Unplug the treadmill and remove the motor hood cover. The optic disk and sensor are located either at the end of the motor or the right hand side of the front roller. The optic disk spins between two sensors on the optic switch. The disk must spin freely without touching either sensor. The sensors can be moved by loosening the adjustment bolt holding the switch to its bracket. The switch can then be slid. Center the disk. 12_9_2011_12_43_28_am.gif12_9_2011_12_43_46_am.gifFinally tight the flexible cable vs display board and tigh the connector from display board vs lower board or main motor controller board. My pro form 540 display panel lights up but machine does not run. Any thoughts?

This the following adjustments:
Make sure the sensor is as close as possible to the pulley withouttouching it. You will see a magneton the face of the pulley; make sure the sensor is aligned with themagnet. There is a screw thatholds the sensor in place that needs to be loosened to adjust thesensor. Re-tighten the screw whenfinished.

My Nordic Track T7si is stuck on one speed. None of the bottons work and the treadmill seems to be frozen in this position.

Check if some pre-settign isnt work there. To re-adjust device, check this procedure...

Remove the key from the console and UNPLUG THE POWER CORD. Next, carefully lower the Uprights (111, 112). Remove the two indicated #8 x 3/4" Screws (1). Note: A Phillips screwdriver with a shaft at least 8 in. (20 cm) long is needed.

zjlimited_1524.jpg

Raise the Uprights (111, 112) to the vertical position.
Remove the three # 8 x 3/4" Screws (1) from the Motor Hood (63), and carefully pivot the Motor Hood off.

zjlimited_1525.jpg

Locate the Reed Switch (65) and the Magnet (49) on the left side of the Pulley (51). Turn the Pulley until the Magnet is aligned with the Reed Switch. Make sure that the gap between the Magnet and the Reed Switch is about 1/8 in. (3 mm). If necessary, move the Reed Switch slightly using a slotted screwdriver.

Reattach the Motor Hood (not shown), making sure that the five #8 x 3/4" Screws (not shown) are inserted into the same holes from which they were removed.

Run the treadmill for a few minutes to check for a correct speed reading.

After 10 seconds running my horizon fitness (quantum ii) , it stop suddently with the E1 code error, what can 1 do to fix-it

Hello,

The E1 error code is the reed switch signal is not making it to the motor controler. Or that the controler is bad.

Unplug the treadmill and hook it back up, remove the motor hood and check the motor controler for a red light, it should remian lit without flashing, showing the unit has power. When you press the speed buttons, the light should start flashing, then the drive motor should start driving the walk belt. Watch the red light to see if it stops flashing when the belt stops. It should. Does the treadmill read speed and distance before it quits? If so, it most likley is a heavy draw on the drive motor causing too much restistance, which shuts the controler down.

Hope this helps.
Matt
