Hi, Something is wrong with the govener (stuck or bent). Look to see for obstruction when you crank the throttle. Or maybe a better spring on it.
Good luck

SOURCE: RPM/voltage fluctuation on Guardian Primepact 50G

The voltage regulator board on this unit is notorious for failing. If you are handy, you can replace it yourself with basic tools and a voltmeter to set the output. The part is about 200 dollars. Good luck

3306 CAT genset engine speed drop while on load, what happen?

Hello Ling:
If you're putting more load on the unit than it was designed for, RPM will drop and if you do it too long, the unit will shut itself off with a circuit breaker.
It also may be that when the engine is under load, the governor demands more fuel so the engine SOUNDS like it's working harder, which it is. This is normal.
Hope this helps

What can i do to reset generac 0058750 genset under voltage alarm?

Did you have a auto controller?
With the switch set to AUTO, the engine may crank and start at any time without warning. Such automatic starting occurs when utility power source voltage drops below a preset pevent or during the normal exercise cycle. To prevent possible injury that might be caused by such sudden starts, always set the switch to OFF and remove the fuse before work. Ing on or around the generator or transfer switch.

Where is the rpm sensor on a genset generator

The distance between the sensor and the diesel generator flywheel is too far or too close (generally this distance is approximately 2.5 + 0.3 mm). If the distance is too far, it may not be able to sense the signal. If it is too close, it may damage the working surface of the sensor. Due to the high-speed operation of the flywheel, radial (or axial) turbulence occurs. The distance is too close to pose a great threat to the safety of the sensor. It has been found that several working faces of the probe have been scratched. According to practical experience, the distance is generally about 2mm, which can be measured with a feeler gauge.

Perkins 3 cylinder powered pramac generator

Start looking at your safety circuits.

1. High water temp
2. Low Oil
3. Low water etc...

From the manual these are the protection circuits.

• Engine protection: low oil pressure, high engine temperature.
• Genset protection: under/over voltage, overload, battery charger failure, battery voltage out of limits,
under/over frequency, start failure.
• Circuit breaker protection: IV poles.
• Differential protection.

Any one of them will trip the fuel relay closed. What you may be able to do is disconnect one at a time each protection circuit and see when the fuel relay opens. (Make sure to reconnect each one if it had no effect on the fuel solenoid)

Once you isolate which circuit it is in then you can chase wires or change the bad switch.

Thanks for choosing FixYa.

Genset can not pick up once main electricity supply is off.

The controller circuit card needs to be replace. This is
the one that senses if and when power is shut off. This
will automatically start the engines.

Low voltage

Most generators use a flyball type governor within the engine to control rpm; also there is a voltage regulator that tries to maintain voltage at about 115v. The voltage regulator varies the voltage to the armature increasing /adjusting magnetic force. Use a meter with htz or freq setting to adjust engine governor to 60 cycles. When the generator is producing 60 cycles, the engine should be turning 3600 rpm, max power range. At 3600 rpm the voltage should be 115 to 120 volts. Loading the generator will cause governor to try to maintain 3600 rpm. Check engine manual for proper adjustment of gonvernor and linkage. The governor mech should last the life of the engine, however governor system does wear out. Expensive repair. enjoy
