JVC DR-M100S I bought a JVC DR-M100S DVD recorder August 2005, and its been fine. Just recently though if I insert any writable dvd to record a program, the machine takes an age to read the disc, then it comes up with a "disc error" message. It plays DVD's no problem. I am frustrated as I bought JVC because they are supposedly a great and reliable brand and its now just out of warranty. Does anybody have any suggestions?

In the process of making a recording the unit stopped and no controls worked. It then resumed recording but later stopped again. No controls worked. I unplugged the unit and now whenever it is plugged in it immediately flashes 'LOADING' and that is where it is now. No controls work.

I have a JVC DR-MH50 DVD/HD recorder and it will only record on DVD-R or DVD-RW not DVD+R or +RW. so check your format of disk you are trying to record on it may be as simple as that.

Try recording on a re-writeable dvd i had exactly the same problem on a dr-m100 (the more primitive version of the dr-m100s) as follows: -- heard a distinct pop while recording -- after that, an error message indicating that i am trying to record on a write protected disk, even though i am not. recording on standard blank dvd now impossible. -- unit still plays dvd normally, except it takes twice as long to find beginning of program -- wierdly, it still records on re-writeable dvd's. the re-writeable dvd must be formatted correctly. the unit still formats re-writeable dvds normally

I have a JVC DR-M100 DVD recorder that will not record but plays.

Most likely has developed a problem with the laser pick up it would probably be cheaper to replace. Julio [email protected]

My JVC DR-MV7 will play most DVDs and even record, but recently, it stopped being able to finalize. After I get the message saying "finalization has failed," I can't even play the DVD anymore - thus losing...

My JVC DR-MV7 will not accept any disc for playback. I insert a movie disc and it consistently rejects them. After about 15 to 20 attempts, sometimes it will stay and begin reading the disc. It also sounds like some internal components are encountering some resistance (moving parts inside?). Any ideas?

Some blank DVD+R discs will not read on my DVD player

The JVC DR-MV1S DVD Recorder / VCR Combo does not suppport DVD+R, only DVD-R, -RW etc.
At least mine only supports these formats, as when I first bought mine, I got some blank DVD's they were DVD+R.
I recorded a movie onto one on my PC, then tried playing it in the JVC unit... no go!
Instruction manual (available for D/load online) proved to me that I could not play +R disks!!

JVC DVD Recorder DR-M1SLB Spontaneously Shuts Off

Had a similar problem with my JVC, took the lid off and the transformer looks as though it had been overheating with scorch marks under the lid.I would think there is a thermal cut-out so the only solution is to replace the transformer and make sure the cooling fan is working
