Sounds familiar. I saw this thread this afternoon while trying to clean my own oven window. My sense is it is definitely a design flaw. It's just too easy to drip something down the top door vents onto the inside of the multiple glass panes.

Here's what I did. I removed the door, following the manual instructions. Open the door to 1/4 and lift it up. Then I put it down on a soft surface and started removing screws until it came apart. It wasn't too complicated though it took some time. Be sure to keep track of your screws as you do this as there are a few different kinds.

you either have a bent door hinge or a broken door spring.
check the hinges by opening the door and see if it opens past 90 degrees. if it leans towards the floor then the hinges are bent.
if not then your door springs are broken off. you can check this by seeing if the door "feels" heavy when opening.
either way the door should close tight against the frame when up and the light should not come on without opening the door.

This is a known issue. The model number is JJW9530C. I have been browsing the internet trying to find stronger hinges but with no luck. It seems there are a lot of unhappy Jenn air owners. You are correct in your assumption that the door is to heavy for the hinges. I will post the websites for your review

Maybe if I could see the hinge I could fabricate a stronger stainless steel one for you

Had this EXACT same problem the day before a party where I needed the oven for lots of baking.... Tried all sorts of things, was about to call a repair man- I FINALLY got it to open by following the first two directions for putting it into self clean mode (turned both knobs to CLEAN), then when it said to lock door I tried to move the lock lever and bam it worked! Give it a shot! Good luck! (:

SOURCE: Water collecting in freezer bottom

Remove the 2 screws which hold the lower panel inside the freezer and remove the panel .Use a hairdryer and defrost the lower part where the drain is . I use a small hose to blow thru the drain hole to remove any debris which will build up after time . Then useing a 14-16 guage aluminum wire (remove the insulation first), insert it into the drain hole without any pressure , until it stops ( pour water thru the drain first , to make sure it is open ) and wrap the top end of the wire around the calrod heater (the black rod just above the drain hole) about 1 turn . When the refrig goes into defrost , the heater will transfer heat to the wire and keep the drain hole from freezing up again .
