Won't get off drain/cancel cycle

When I close the diswasher, everything seems normal. Then when I press a cycle (and it does NOT matter which setting) the machine seems to override the cycle and go straight to the cancel/drain cycle, and the clean green light is on during this time. I let it run its course, thinking maybe I didn't let it finish fully before opening last time. It finished, the clean light came on, so I opened the dishwasher, closed it, pressed normal, and it did it again. It has done this more than 12 times today, and I am afraid to try anything since it seems like more than a hardware problem. We have a new baby and I'm desperate to use it: handwashing everything takes more than an hour!

Turns out, it was simpler than I ever could have imagined: someone, whoever had last used the dishwasher had pushed the lock button, and locked the machine into the drain cycle. All I had to do was to hold down the unlock button which fixed it. Feeling Silly! Thanks for your advice; I'm writing into the handbook for the machine.

It sounds to me like you may have a float switch that is registering water in the unit when you try to start it. If the unit "registers"that there is water in the sump before starting a new cycle, it will try to drain it before starting. The switch is located under the lower acess panel. Sometimes, you can bounce the float (depending on model) inside the unit a couple times and dislodge it. If not, you will have to pull the lower acess panel and check the switch out.

Model #DU1015XTXS2

With the dishwasher door closed and the unit in standby mode or with no cycle selected and all lights off, press - heated-dry, normal, heated-dry, normal buttons in that sequence. Then press cancel..... wait until 2 minute cycle is done. Open and close the door and make sure it is closed. Then run another cycle.

Motor keeps running. Water heats fine. Help

One of the reasons for motor not draining during normal cycle is the check valve is stuck. It is meant to return to normal during drain cycle but close during wash. I think the cancel is resetting it and letting water out.

Our dishwasher won't drain completely. I ran it through a regular cycle but it was left with water in the bottom.

Have you tried canceling the cycle? To cancel, turn the on/off switch to on, then press and hold for three seconds the two buttons labeled "Cancel Drain". Keep the door closed for the next minute so that the dishwasher can complete the cycle. During this time the pump will remove any water from the washer. Also you will notice that Bosch dishwashers always leave a little water in the system to keep the seals from drying out and going bad.
Hope this helps

DISHWASHER was locked now unlocked but won't run. Goes to drain/Cancel when you push the Normal Cycles

Wondering how you unlocked the dishwasher. Normally you would have pressed Heat Dry for about 4 secs.

I don't this action would have caused the problem. For dishwasher to run you need the door lock switch to operate. If door is not closed it will go to Cancel.

Check item 12 in this diagram.

Ok try this, open the door and then hit these buttons in the following combination. HI TEMP - DRY - HI TEMP - DRY...then close door and press cancel...then wait for the pump to shut down. you should be able to run a cycle after this...If this fails to fix the problem give me the make and model # of the dishwasher, this can normally be found just inside the door.

Maytag quiet series

My manual says: 1- Close door. 2- Select cycle. 3- Press delay. 4- Push Start/Cancel. (As soon as start/cancel is pressed, the flashing should stop and the delay time will begin).
