The CL message indicates that the voice clock has not been set and the answering system is off. Check that the clock has been set by pressing the Day/Check button on the side of the base. Press as needed to get to the current day of the week. (The Day/Check button is the third button from the top.) Press the Min (top) and Hour buttons to access the time set mode for them. Press the Day/Check button to set the current time. Press and hold to rapidly adjust the time (5 minutes or 5 hours at a time).

I know forensic detectives can retrieve lots of data and also spoken messages on tape, when needed, but these guys (there are women to) are not cheap. I think the tech also wants to know where the message is (was) stored, on a tape or in a digital memory. Put the brand and model in your question, and use google like this:
"how to retreve a deleted message on a BRAND, MODEL phone"

I have an Atlinks Cordless Phone Model # 21028CE3-A and I would like to know how I can purchase a new add on to the cordless. My phone works fine but I need a new phone for the cordless in the other room. My phone will not record the number when trying to make a phone call on it. Or do I need to purchase a whole new unit?

I wish I had a solution for you.  My Uncle has the same problem and the manual instructs to unplug/replug the machine and then reset the date and time.  He has done that for a while and now even that isn't fixing the problem.  I find this to be highly unacceptable.  I'm planning to get him another phone that WON'T be GE.

Put the phone in the base station (not the charging cradle, the base that has buttons)  for at least 20 seconds, so that it can resyncronize.
