Where do I find the recovery partition on my toshiba l645d laptop with windows 7?

I want to reset my laptop to factory settings. I have tried multiple things and can not find any place where the recover laptop to out of box state exsits. I have entered into the BIOS and there is no option to recover the laptop to factory, or reset with system image or any of those things even in the Advanced option screen. I simply just want to reset the laptop back to original out of box settings and I can not do this for some reason. I have even used the Windows 7 64bit restore disk and still do not have the recovery option! Please help me reset my laptop to factory settings. Thank You!

That's the whole problem to begin with. I do NOT have any recovery CD's and I do NOT or am not able to access the Restore to factory settings option while pressing the "0, F8. F1. F2, or F12 keys. I have the option to Repair Your Computer, I click on it and it does bring up the screen for entering my name and pswrd, and then it goes to the same screen as if I were to burn a windows 7 recovery disk. I do not have the option to restore anywhere! I tried to burn a system image of the HDD and I can't even do that. I get error msgs that state there were problems copying the image and the backup and restore session will now stop. I guess I will have to pay Toshiba the $30 it cost for the recovery CD's/DVD's for my specific model and hopfully this will help me to be able to restore the laptop to factory condition. If not, I guess I will just junk it lol! It is VERY frustrating! Anything else I can try to simply erase the hard drive and start over to out of box state would be appreciated greatly!

Oh yes and when I try to run the Toshiba Recovery Media to make restore disks it states there is no HDD Recovery Drive but yet when I look in My Computer and go to the C drive (HDD) there is a Recovery Partition! It completely has me mind boggled! I don't get it lol. If someone knows a way around this please by all means HELP ME LOL!!! I am not totally computer illiterate but I am no whiz either! I have tried just about everything to be able to restore my laptop to factory settings to no avail! I am operating on Windows 7 Home Premium. I can access windows and the laptop boots up perfectly everytime. I wish to restore the laptop to factory settings because my hard drive is red lined and getting very full. I am afraid if I do not find a way to restore the laptop the HDD will be fried. Someone please help me, and thanks a million in advance.

1. Press and hold the 0 (zero) key and at the same time, tap the power buttononce to switch on
your notebook.

3. When prompted by the warning screen; select Yes to continue with the systemrecovery.
4. Select Recovery of Factory Default Software; click Next.
5. Select Recover to out-of-box state.6. Click Next again.

SOURCE: how to recovery the system from recovery partition

Did you know you only get ONE shot at creating a recovery disc? And most of the time it is garbage, just like Vista.

He tried to put XP on it and failed? weird.

A couple things you can do...

1. Get your hands on a Vista disk. If you know anyone that works in IT, you can borrow a Vista disk. Do a complete fresh install. Use your "Product Key" and you will have your own Licensed, perfectly legal version of Vista.

2. Get yourself a copy of XP. Delete all partitions, then create a new one. Don't try to save that Vista recovery partition...it's toast. I recommend XP, but I'm a dinosaur.

SOURCE: I have a satalite 300

Hi,

try using ActiveBoot suite v5.0.5, when turnig on your computer. This program will scan your computer and show u all the errors, missing files, wrong dll,...and repair them. It worked very well for me as I had a TROJAN virus on my Toshiba satellite 300 and couldn't even boot anymore.
After that try use the RegistryBooster tool witch solves every windows problems.

I hope this will help. Good luck :)

How to reset satellite pro C650

The computer might have what's called a "recovery partition" which is a hidden portion of your hard drive specifically made for restoring the computer to factory settings. To access it, shut down the computer completely. Then press the power button and press the F8 button until a black screen with white text appears and the first option will say "Repair your computer" press enter and follow the on screen instructions. These are just generic instructions, though, for more specific instructions, you can check this webpage out.

Hi,

Toshiba laptops have what we call the recovery partition. To access that;
  1. Turn the laptop off.
  2. Press and hold letter C on the keyboard.
  3. While holding the letter C, press the power button.
  4. Keep holding the letter C button until you see "Windows is loading files".
If ever the recovery partition is not accessible, you need to contact Toshiba and ask for a recovery disc.

I had to reformat my laptop and i wasnt able to make a backup for my files. how do i put back the pre installed software for my laptop? its a toshiba L645D S4036...and the os i am using now is windows 7...

your laptop should have come with a recovery disk. Pop that in the drive and boot off the CD. it will install the factory os and software that came with your computer. NOTE: THIS WILL ERASE EVERYTHING CURRENTLY ON YOUR HARDDRIVE.
If you do nothave the recovery CD you can obtain one by contacting Toshiba, but this will cost you money.
if you wanted to upgrade to windows 7, you will have to download the drivers from toshiba for your notebook. as far as the programs that came preinstalled on your computer they might or might not work with windows 7. you can always run them in compatibility mode to get it to work (does not always work though)

Is there a way to restore factory settings (out of the box settings) for the Toshiba Satellite A65-S1062?

Hi blackrose696. There's 2 ways. 1.- If you go to My Computer and see a partition (probably D:) called recovery, go to Start - All Programs - and see if you see under Toshiba - something called recovery or restore (you WILL loose ALL your data) and follow the instruction. If you DO see the partition but you dont see anything under Toshiba folder, then restart the computer and inmediately you will see something like Press F10 or F12 to boot from recovery partition.
If you dont see the recovery partition. The only way is using the Restore CDs... if you dont have those you have to order them from the Toshiba website. (they cost like $15) so that way you are sure you get the license and the drivers correctly. I hope this helps. Please do not forget to rate and provide positive feedback from our support today. Thank you :D
