Bunn (Pour Omatic) coffee maker has been leaking water - what would couse it to leak? Thank you

  • Anonymous Dec 14, 2008

Just this morning our Bunn coffee maker started to lead. I did notice a recall for the heating element (this one is new in '04). I am going to try to get it fixed under the recall, hopefully they will just send out a refurbished unit.

When a machine leaks, it is generally an indication of a bad seal or gasket. If you will call Customer Service at 800-352-2866 with the model and date code we will be happy to help you resolve your issue.

If this is a home model, it will be leaking out of the plastic tray where you pour in the water. These trays get brittle over time and crack around where they mount into the top of the tank. If you are in your warranty period, call bunn warranty department at 1-800-263-2256 for assistance, and if not, you will have to either call your local Bunn repair shop to find a used tray, or purchase a new brewer, as Bunn does not ship parts for these models

Bunn pour omatic commercial coffee maker will not brew and it leaks

VPR is a pour over "Volume Displacement" brewer. Required to completely fill the inner tank and heat prior to using brewer. BEFORE plugging in unit, water must be poured into upper tray and with brew funnel and empty pot in place. Keep pouring water into top fill tray until water drips out of brew funnel. Plug in VPR and allow it 15-20 mins to heat up. leave the pot as there may be additional water dripping. Remove power if there is any water spilling out from other places like the top pan cover or bottom of machine. With the initial heating done, take a full pot of water and slowly pour into the top filling tray. HOT steaming water should come out of the brew funnel to fill the (empty) pot. Prep is done and the machine can be used to brew a pot after 10-15mins of reheat time.
*** the machine you have needs to be checked for leaks in areas mentioned above. Water should only come out of brew funnel (if not present then the brew head or if that is missing then the brew pipe. All will need to be replaced prior to brewing.) Leaking under machine is an indication of leak(s) in pour tray, tank, tank cover, gasket, probe gasket. This machine like any used equipment should be checked out by qualified tech prior to use. Be aware that coffee vendors sometimes rent or loan brewers to customers.

My Bunn Pour-Omatic coffee maker (White) Heat up

Most likely suspect is the thermostat, however you might want to check the limit switch also(located on boiler between elements).

Leaking pour basin

Your only hope of getting a new tray for these would be if your local Bunn repair shop has some hanging around that broke down for another reason. This is a very common problem with those models. You can find a list of Bunn repair depots at www.bunn.com Good luck!

Bunn Coffee machine only makes 1/2 pot

What's happening is that it isn't leaking, it's boiling over. You need to turn down the thermostat under the top lid. Also, before you brew coffee, add water to the tank and let it pour into an empty pot. Once it stops brewing, let it heat up for a few minutes then make your pot of coffee.

Water leaking

The silicon seal inside the coffee maker tends to disintergrate. Bunn Inc. does not sell parts for the inside of the coffee makers, but a seal kit can be purchased through a small appliance repair center or repaired for a small cost. Kit is about $8.00 at most places.

BUNN Pour-Omatic

Most likely it is your tank heater, but look on the top of the tank heater, because sometimes the wire will burn off the top of the element
