I would asssume that the four cap replacement you're referring too is in the power supply of the DM module. (The large silver looking box on the left looking at the back of the TV)..
You can unplug that module from the signal board and remove it. Open the cover and you should find 4 16v caps in the power supply. If they look buldged chances are they are the failure. If not you might want to take an ESR meter to them to confirm they're okay and move on... In the back of that module is a small vertical board called the E2P module. Unplug it from the DM and plug the DM back into the signal board. If it powers up your picture might not be in the best alignment but you've identified the problem - just replace the E2P module.
If none of this works you're going to start getting into some greater technical requirements - but let's cover that when you get that far...

Nope the bulb is fine. This set sucks up dust and contaminates the light engine. Rarley does blowing the set out with compressed air fix this, The light engine can be disassembled and cleaned but this is best left to someone who has done this once before. Because if it gets messed up you get to buy a $1500.00 light engine

Jim,
yes the convergence Ics are what cause the two picos to be open they are both 5 amp picos. You can get the picos, the convergence ICs and the factory service manual for your model at the following link.your model is known as the V17 chassis for service manuals and you should require two STK392-570 Convergence ICs. Heres the link they provide free instalation instructions.

SOURCE: Blue Flickering Screen - Which Repair Kit?

2 swollen capacitors on the power supply (first board you can see on the chassis when you start to dissassemble) big caps... 3300 uf... 16v i think. these caps can also induce a 3.4 code (lamp error) and all around **** picture. fmt failures can range from black and white checkerboard pattern on the screen to wavy lines over the picture and also the blinking green light. DM failures I've seen include the blinking green light , wavy lines, and weird digital failures like horizontal bars green blocks or the picture being cut in odd places.

also when you hear that the failure is caused by the capacitors (blinking green light mainly) the culprit is not only the bulged caps. This is why you can change all the caps on the boards and still not have a working tv. its about 80 surface mount caps across both the fmt and dm. techs, look at your replacement boards and notice the darker print on the 47uf caps. good luck trying to change them it takes me about 3 hours to do both boards and about 45 dollars worh of caps.

Mitsubishi green blinking light of death

Hi Jim,

Green blinking light of death on Mitsubishi DLP TV means that the DM failed to booted up. I would advice you to replaced the 7 1000uf electrolytic capacitor on the DM board. Most of the time it fixed the symptoms. Please inquire at tvrepairworld.com if they have an available DM repair kit for V36 chassis (WD-57733 chassis).

I have white spots and black spots on right side of Mitsubishi WD-C657. I've done research online, and have heard its the dlp chip. Is that true, and if so, is it something that I can replace myself,...

This tv is it the DLP projection light engine block main board itself is the problems, not easily to go into the tv itself and replacing the IC chip itself.Must take out many mechanical parts to get u the Light engine block it self.U can replaced IC but somethime the IC chip it replaced, will not solved the problems, because the tv problems now the it is spreading and going on beyond the IC chip itself. If want to keep this tv very exspensive repair,i would reconmend hire a bound qualify tv tech replaced the whole Light projection block itself, but first call Mitsubishi for some kind of deal, they might help with the repair amount cost.

Video went blank

It may be. I have replaced the lamp in my sony 3 times. Look for dlp lamps online and enter in your tv model. There are instructions online on how to change it yourself. They also show you in your manual. The power light should blink red indicating bulb failure. Read your manual. Hope that helps

Buzzing noise from Mitsubishi DLP WD-52327 after replacing bulb

Did your replace lamp come on the screen or did you lose picture? Just because the LED indicator suggest replace lamp it doesn't mean it needs it. If your pix was dull or loss of brightness then replace it, if not then just reset your lamp timer, check your owners manual for instructions.

Blue Flickering Screen - Which Repair Kit?

yes they provide a free service manual with their kits. the symptom of the blue screen could either be the signal or the FMT as they can both cause those symptoms, My professional guess would be the signal board as the FMT will cause distortion lines across the screen with no picture.
