if the power light comes on but the screen stays black, then your TV might be on the wrong input Channel. for example: you switch inputs when you play games or watch dvds vs. watching regular tv. Try to change the input
Unfortunately you will not be able to switch input.
I also have a Sharp, I have tried 5 different universal remotes. None will switch input. I guess that function is not provided properly.
Good luck!
YOU SHOULD FIRST READ THE USER MANUAL OF THE SPECIFIC UNIVERSAL REMOTE CONTROL. ( i myself have an universal remote control and i lost its manual and appliance code table... so i can`t do anything with it.... )
1. each universal remote control has its own table with supported TVs, DVDs, STEREOs, VCRs etc. 2. For each brand of equipment (e.g.: Samsung TV, Phillips STEREO, Sony VCR) the universal remote control has a set of codes which you must input in the universal remote control and see how good it works; keep the code whith which the universal remote control that does the most. 3. There is also a quick search mode where you keep the SET button pressed for X seconds or press the SET button and the appliance you want to control or press SET button and input a code that defines the type of appliances you want to control and hit the power button each 2-3 seconds. if the appliance reacts then press any other button.
well, i got a one for all remote from a wal mart or some where else, and i have a sylvania tv. it works for my tv. might want to look into that. www.oneforall.com
You are going to have to order a origanal remote that came with the TV to do this because the universal remote does not have the game mode feature! Go to www.remotes.com to order yours!

I own a One-for-All universal remote, and my booklet says the setup code for a Curtis Mathes TV (without a built-in DVD or VCR) is one of the following numbers: 0030, 0047, 0054, 0060, 0093, 0145, 0154, 0166, 0451, 0702. I can not guarantee these numbers will work with your remote, but it is worth a try.
