Pull away from wall where you have refrigeratorn plugged in andremove lower cover on back that provides a air circulation wall and protective cover to compressor and with your hand feel the compressor. Is it warm, cool or too hot to keep hand there or can you sense nothing running but the fans? Sometimes the fans make it appear as if compressor is running. Is ES5FHAXS your correct model number? I feel you have most likely pulled something loose during moving around.

Once you have looked over the area of the compressor I need someone to unplug refrigerator and lower the control panel inside the fresh food compartment. There is a defrost control board located inside the control panel. Look it over for signs of heat, melted solder or burn marks both sides. http://www.repairclinic.com/PartDetail/D...

Hi I took the back lower panel off. and the compressor, was warm to touch. I'm not sure i want to delve in to looking in to the electrical side of things and i didn't fully understand your last advise. Thanks.

I thought it was possible your model is the ES5FHAXS like listed just above your post but the more I read below in your comments you appear to be in the UK. Basically I was seeing the American Model and hoping to find an answer for you. Sorry if I made you feel unsafe as I would never recommend doing something dangerous or you are not comfortable with. If fans are running warm air from bottom outside and cold air inside you have at the least a compressor working correctly. If compressor is warm not hot then itis possible Freon was released during the shuffle. I will continue to answer if need through my website email, Thanks John Tripp

You may have laid refrigerator down during the move causing oil to migrate to the evaporator. If this has happened leave refrigerator unplugged for about twelve hours so the oil can slowly seep back down to the compressor. Trying to speed this process up will slow you down and may cause the compressor overload to fail. Once the compressor is ready to start cooling you can leave refrigerator plugged in, Thanks Sea Breeze

SOURCE: fridge/freezer not cool.

Hello
Welcome to fixya.
I'm Huuum and happy to assist you,

I believe your problem is an old thermostat or compressor !
How old is it?

My advice is do not put good money into bad!
A new fridge will pay for itself in a few years by using a lot less electricity!

Here is an interesting report I just read!

Repair or replace?

When to pull the plug on your old refrigerator

It nearly always makes sense to undertake simple do-it-yourself repairs,
such as replacing a gasket on a refrigerator or a freezer.

Typically, you'll also find a troubleshooting section for more-serious problems
in the owner's manual.

Should you pay for a repair or buy a new model?
The answer depends mostly on the age of your refrigerator,
how much you bought it for,and the cost of the repair.

Follow these guidelines:

When a repair makes sense.

If your refrigerator is under warranty or less than four years old (three years for top-freezers),
paying for a repair makes sense.
Note that refrigerators under warranty might require service from a factory-authorized technician;
readers have found them on a par with independent repairers.

When a repair might be a wise choice.

If your refrigerator is out of warranty and is four to seven years old,
it might make sense to pay for a repair. Customers generally pay $100 to $200 for a repair.
But you might want to buy a new model even at this stage,
given that today's models are quieter and have added features.
Higher energy efficiency is another plus: Energy Star-qualified models made after April 28, 2008,
are 43 percent more efficient than conventional models built before 2001 and 56 percent
more efficient than those built before 1993.

When it pays to replace.

The repair costs more than half the price of a comparable new refrigerator.
Data also shows that it doesn't pay to fix a less-expensive top-freezer refrigerator
six or more years old or a bottom-freezer or side-by-side eight or more years old.

Thanks to better recycling programs, less than 10 percent
of a refrigerator you replace is likely to end up in a landfill.
Thanks for giving me the opportunity to help!

Please remember to leave me a rating before you sign off!
Thank You, HUUUM

SOURCE: freezer cold but not fridge

too much ice bulid up will stop enough cold air being blown into the fridge.Try turning it off letting all ice melt then turn it back on again and set thermostat at a lower temp. There may be ice you can't see.

SOURCE: panel between fridge and freezer very hot and no sound at all

Dont know about the noise prob. but I can help with the over heating cabinet. Your condensing coil is dirty and needs cleaned. it is located under your refrigerator or behind the back panel. You should use a brush and vac. it out. Air must travel through the tubing freely in order to cool properly. It should be easy to find following the tubes coming out of your compressor.

SOURCE: freezer not freezing food and fridge not staying cold enough

Check the compressor with a volt meter, if the compressor is getting proper voltage then check the relay. But this sounds like a problem with the compressor

SOURCE: WHIRLPOOL AMERICAN SIDE BY SIDE FRIDGE /FREEZER

I had probably the same problem. After a little discussion with the factory they sent a technician as a "Good Will Gesture." The technician told me it was the control board down by the compressor. I overheard a conversation between he and his central repair office that it was a common problem. The factory would not admit it. I have a feeling the electronic control board he replace (which would have cost several hundred bucks) was probably made in China. Now I'm having more problems with my Ohio made Whirlpool side-by-side. The freezer is working fine, the fridge is not very cold. By the way, the internal lights was one of the keys to the problems.

Call them out under warranty. the circulation fan is normally at the back of the fridge. On such a new fridge, so shouldn't need to be fixing issues. A fan is an 'electrical component', not an electronic item.

Samsung american style fridge/freezer needs repairing

Spray a good quantity of WD-40 on the spindle of the fan motor where it enters the motor itself. This should get the fan working smoothly with no noise. This will probably solve the other problems, as the fan prevents various components from overheating and shutting down.
